After a prolonged absence due to jealousy, I'm now happy to return to the forum as I'm now a biker again!
I flogged the ZX10 last year due to having a few weeks with no income, well all is sorted now and I need a new bike to get up to Blackpool every day from my home in Warrington. I was considering buying a throw away hack but thought of long, wet waits on the hard shoulder of the M6 were enough to convince me to break the kids piggy banks and buy something in better nick.
My local dealer had a T reg Fazer in with 28k on the clock. It's virtually mint with a powerbronze hugger and belly pan, heated grips (now in the bin) new tyres, new C+S, full MOT and 12 months tax. £1795 was right at the top end of its money, but I had to buy on finance so a private sale was not an option. Besides, I got a full one piece waterproof thown in as well! Still, I should have haggled a bit harder me thinks...
Well anyway, here she is...

That's a lovely bike mate
I'd say leave the scottoiler, and just clean the chain manually, use a good quality chain lube (preferably dry lube) i'd recommend Wurth High Performance, it's great stuff. It will take 10 minutes max on a paddock stand, save you money, and is cheaper than getting a scottoiler
Oh, and ACF-50 the whole bike (except brakes) it will keep it in top condition! Looks like a nice tidy bike, nice find mate
I'd definitely get the Optimate though, i'm planning on getting one soon. |

That is good mileage for a chain, i guess in the long run it would work out the same, but it depends how often you clean and lube your chain.
I clean and lube my chain once a week, still got the same can of Wurth from months and months ago, only cost £8 too, elbow grease costs nothing |

Why would you get rid of the heated grips, sure they aren't the coolest thing around but I'd rather be warmer than cool
Tidy looking bike

Probably me being a spastic, but shouldn't the directional tread on the front tyre be facing the other way?? i.e the tyre's been fitted the wrong way round??
Shouldn’t it be like below?? to disperse water from the centre of the tyre, not bring it in??

Check the side wall of the tyre for an arrow that should point the same direction as the wheel turns when the bike moves forward. If it points the other way then it's wrong. ____________________ CBT February 2008 | A2 June 2008 | Yamaha YBR125 (written off) | Honda CBF125 (current) |

The rotation is right actually! I think the idea is so that if you are cornering to the right, water is dispersed to your left and away from the direction you are turning in. I think...!!!
As for the heated grips, one of the cables was cut, I do have a spare set, but they are far too large for me to get comfy with my tiny little fat hands, so some normal grips feel much better. I also have gallons of ACF-50. I'm an aircraft engineer and we soak the insides of all the old rotten planes with it to keep them from falling apart. All my bikes get a frequent liberal soaking and I cant reccommend it enough.
I think the calipers are off an R1 anyway aren't they? Or so I heard! The brakes are shit hot anyway! With exception of my old ZX10 and the 636, all my other bikes have been single front discers, so I'm well aquainted with braking well in advance and little happenning when I do!
I'm off out on it in a bit, I'm yet to really fall in love with it yet, so here's hoping I come back smiling! ____________________ "THOSE WHO RISK NOTHING, DO NOTHING, ACHIEVE NOTHING, BECOME NOTHING." |
