i own a zx7r and plan to do a longish journey soon however i dont know which was the reserve tap is. the fuel tank had been repainted and stickers removed so i dont know which way the dial should be. i know in the middle it means off but is it pointing forward for main tank and back for reserve?

Fully anticlockwise is on and fully clockwise is reserve.

I believe.

In 4 years, I've never used my reserve switch. The 7r doesn't have the biggest tank and I'd always fill before 120-130 miles.

I squeezed just over 19 litres into mine, reserve was also good for a minimum of 30 miles as well.

I miss my 7R as well.

I glided into the garage the other day just as I lost power ready to switch to reserve and the clock had 122 miles on it. Not bad for lo speed commuting Smile
