Is there anything more you can give us to go on or is it literally 3 minutes of anything? Do you have a marking criteria, learning objectives, examples, instructions, guidelines etc.?

If it were me I would write a cheesy script for a mockumentary of something, a bit of dramatic music and filming techniques along with fairly mundane footage of something trivial with over the top narration Thumbs Up It'll be funny and give you lots of quick and easy ways to good content and start editing.

Something ridiculous like like a mock news segment on the growing problem of the rising popularity of / national pandemic of 2 for 1 offers in supermarkets. Society in decline etc.

Back to the studio.

If I had set this kind of a project I would expect to see a 3 min piece that took about five hours to research, plan and shoot. Posting for advice on a forum you have just joined is a fail of a huge magnitude. It is said that you can not fail Media Studies.
You just did.
How about 3 mins on why I want to work in Mc Donalds?

If it can be on anything then try and take some inspiration from Youtube. I saw a good little film about some guy's perfect day which must have taken hours to shoot... Let me see if I can find it.

All that happens is a guy waking up in the morning and follows him walking to work. But he does everything in style. i.e. he puts his hat on by throwing it in the air and lands on his head perfect, then throws his shoes onto his feet, puts his shirt on in a spin then walks downstairs sliding down the banister and grabing his scarf in the process and twisting it around his neck.. putting suggar lumps in his tea by throwing them over his shoulder into the teacup etc etc... i'm sure you get my jist. You could even start the film by taking a potion that someone gave you yadda yadda yadda

So his whole day is made up of pretty cool moments that he must have taken ages to films a piece together. But the end result was pretty cool.

Yeah sorry about that one, BCF was going a bit mental with me earlier today and submitted 5 posts, for some reason I could only delete one, then couldn't get back on to change the others.

Is videoing still alive? I thought it was all digital these days...and I've been consciously re-training myself to say 'record' instead of video for a fair bit now, so I don't sound too old. Laughing
