Hi

If the bars are bent then pretty much replace them. However probably more likely in a very low speed off that the forks have just twisted in the yokes.

All the best

Keith

I've tried in vain to straighten bars before but it's almost impossible to get them exactly as they were. If it is the bars, then replacements aren't always expensive, but are well worth it compared to bodging the old ones. Thumbs Up

Renthals are cheap and generally let you improve on the standard riding position as well. If they're bent that's the way to go.

Hi

In which case, slacken off the wheel spindle and the pinch bolts holding the forks on the top yoke. Then pull the brakes and bounce the front suspension up and down. Then retighten everything.

All the best

Keith

Sometimes you can improve things a bit even on the roadside by standing in front of the bike and gripping the front wheel between your legs - then get hold of the bars and heave them in the direction you think they should go.
Worth trying anyway.

I had a minor off just before xmas and had the exact same thing. Handle bars felt bent but weren't. I did what Keith suggested and it sorted it nicely.

Do be careful your forks don't drop out the yokes though, not that it nearly happened to me of course.

Thumbs Up

Why you only undo the pinch bolts on one yoke Laughing .

All the best

And that is why you have all those gold blobs!

I would never have thought of that, the guy in the office here who told me about the method didn't mention it and he has a reputation for knowing everything.

Thumbs Up

In an "I've got to ride home" emergency sit on the bike line the side of the TYRE up with a lampost and using the bars smack the TYRE into the post. Everything normally pops back pretty much straight.

Dibble

p.s.TYRE is in capitals as I have marked a rim doing this
