gsxr 400

Has anyone had any previous experience with them? What are they like in general. Anything i should look out for with them.

Which model?

GK76A (High Frame like the 750 and 1100, USD forks) models handle and stop very well and are argubly the nicest to ride, barring the fact that Suzuki thought it would be lulzy to make the engine as boring as possible. Plenty of power for a 400 but delivered in a Honda CBR / Yamaha FZR manner (think electric appliance rather than internal combustion engine). I've heard a few stories about dropped valves and snapped camshafts on these but I wouldn't call them hugely unreliable.

GK73A (DC-Albox Beam frame like an early RGV250). Bodywork and tailpiece a bit like a J - L model 750's. Very, very fast for a 400, especially the original J model. Better than the GK76A model IMHO because the engine actually has character to compensate for its 60-ish ponies, i.e. lulzy sensation of coming on cam at about 10000rpm. Engines are indestructable if serviced properly, me and my mates all had these and ragged them to bits, including lots of holding them on the limiter while stopped at lights etc and never had any bother.

**Disclaimer - any comments on reliability mentioned above have to be taken in the context of the bikes I was around being under 10 years old at the time. Alot of surviving bikes have had a million UK scrotes mistreat and run them on a budget of about a quid, whereas ours were usually fresh imports with low miles. Unless the bike in question is mint and original assume that it's been upside down at least once and put back together by someone with the mechanical talent of an autistic manchild. Check fucking everything and pay as little as possible.

Its the GK76A model aparently its all good and working no nasty rattle or smoking newish tyres good pannels tidy bike. My freind saw it tonight as its someone he knows and hopefully im going to see it tomorrow.

I presume they have the same carb o-ring issues as bandit 400s? I've been looking for one or the other and I keep seeing absolute dogs, they don't seem to age as well as the CBRs or VFRs in my opinion. Sexy bikes though
