Surely the no brakes helps mitigate the lack of grip from the tyres? - less likely to slide .

I did have a pretty bald rear on my commuter until recently (well under 1mm), now, nearly as bad, I've got an 020!

Rode my rear 020 down to the threads last summer , nearly sh1t my pants when I saw it! Not recommended to do that , but they're feckin' good tyres!

Mrs hellkat you dong. You live in London don't you. Not the best place for tomfoolery.
I had(well could of got the bus) to get some brake fluid today, only a 2mile jaunt, so thought a steady ride using the rear drum brake would be acceptable.
It was until i cut in front of some queuing traffic and managed a supermoto style broadside. Totally cacked myself...until i saw some kids grinning at me...then i felt 'cool'.
Did return to Grandad style riding straight afterwards.
