 |
|
This morning i went for a ride as usual and thanks to some black ice I had a fall.
Been the first time I feel now a biker ahah.
Anyway luckily the fall was at very slow speed due to the fact that I was approaching a roundabout and the road was already nasty.
the bike didn't have any major damage apart from a slightly broken side panel on the back.
the only thing is that now i feel the handlebar are not completely straight. Like when they need to be adjusted on a bicycle.
Is this something I can do myself or do I need to take the bike to the garage.
Any opinions are welcome.
thanks. |

Ok kool, they could have quite easily bent. Sit on the bike and have a close look at how each side sits. should be able to see if they are out of shape. The good news is that they should be easly to replace. Get a set of renthal bars on there and its all go |

Sounds like the bars are bent but you also might have twsted the forks. To remove the bars the first thing you'll have to do is get the left hand grip off. These can be a bit stubbourn, I use someting like a thin knitting needle and slide it between the grip and the bars being carefull not to bust through the rubber. Work the needle around the bars while pulling on the grip. If it's too tight, you can always cut it off and replace.
Take the mirrors off, (R/H one should be a reverse thread), and loosen the switchgear, (usualy two screws underneath), be carefull with these screws, they can seize and, if they're cross head, can round off very easily. When they're loose, undo the clutch lever from the bracket, and remove along with the cable. Next, undo the bars and, if you have enough room, slide off the throttle control complete, the same with the L/H switch and Bob's yer uncle Place te bars on a flat surface and you should be able to see if they're bent. |

Did the bike hit anything? (Other than the floor). Like the curb?
If not, I wouldn't expect the forks to be bent or damaged, unless they took a bash. ____________________
