What should i do to sell my bike

going to be selling one of my bikes this summer as i have also got a car now so really only need one now.

as far as i know you cant mot a bike or tax it anytime, only when its about to run out so there will probobly only be around 4 or 5 months tax + mot on it.

tyres are alright, maybe need replacing at some point, should i bother buying new ones as chances are i'd not make that money back when selling it. same goes for chain and sprocket.

i also have spare parts for it such as a front fairing and a padock stand for it (single sided swingarm) should i try and bundle it in with the bike or sell them seperately?

how honest should i be? there are some problems but tbh i doubt many people would care or even understand the problem.

I thought you could MOT it anytime? Not sure really.

You definitely won't make the money back replacing consumables as long as it's in a position to be ridden away.

You'll make more money selling everything separately but it's a question of whether you can be arsed.

As for how honest...well, that's down to you There are some real scumbags out there and they probably make a few extra quid each time they sell a bike compared to honest punters. But then of course, if I knocked on my elderly neighbours door on some pretence to get invited in for a cup of tea then I could probably distract her enough to steal a few quid from her purse...there's a lot of ways to make an extra few quid, some of which negatively impact on other peoples lives and some of which don't

Depends on who the buyer is.

If they're sound and you don't wanna be selling all the stuff seperate then try a deal for al in, maybe a for a couple extra quid.

If they're muppets, charge top notch and any extra's are on top.


I'd not spend money on consumables if it's semi ok now, best deal is to do with it as is, let new owner decide if they wanne replace/invest.

on the last mot certificate i saw it said it could only have its mot rebooked within a month of expiry or something like that.

and for honest stuff its nothing horrific, just small things me dropping it twice (once when in garage and once when i hit a patch of oil, everything was replaced and repaired) obviously if they ask i'l tell them but if they dont ask should i mention it?.

You can have an MOT done anytime you want and it'll be valid for 12 months. If you get the MOT done within a month of the current MOT expiring then the new MOT is valid for 12 months from the date of expiry.

I wouldn't bother changing the tyres or C&S if they've still got life left in them.

You'll get more money if you sell the spares separately, but it's more hassle than including them with the bike. But if including them with the bike it's only going to increase the value if you find a buyer who wants it with spare fairings and other spares that you've got.

Be honest about the problems it's got. If someone comes to look at the bike and finds stuff that you've not told them about then they're not going to impressed with you wasting their time. What are the problems that many people wouldn't understand?

yeh i'l be selling the rvf, i doubt i'l get much money for the zx7r. also iv'e become much lazier with the power of the 7r compared to the rvf. the rvf handles much much better in the corners but the time it makes up in corners is nothing compared to acceleration of the ninja.

even though its older than the ninja it will probobly be worth more due to the ninja being a cat c.

odly the rvf is a much more comfortable bike to ride long distance.

give it the clean of its life , polish the bits you can , clean and oil the chain and sprocket , make sure everything works , tyre pressures are right , do everything to make it nice at first impression , i brought a pig of a zxr400 3wks ago , was a nail to look at because it was filthy , rusty bolts , dirty wheels and chain , brought it at knock down price , got it home , spent the next day washing , polishing and generally cleaning it and now it looks like a real bargin , first impressions make all the difference !!

sold a zx7r a month ago , a 2000 "w"plate ,11,500 miles ,green and black ,completely standard except for heated grips(like thicker grips and warm hands )black double bubble screen and gold chain ,had it 12mnths , totally mint , fast as fk and rode rails round corners ,would recomend one just for the late braking into corners ,have you had one before ?
