Slip on exhausts are so called because they replace the standard can by slipping over the end of the header pipes where the standard can used to be. They then stay in place by means of exhaust clamps.

The alternative to slip on is bolt on, which bolt to a flange on the end of the headers.

And you posted a link to Gmail, not ebay... Rolling Eyes

Potentially, but probably unlikely without a jet kit and dyno time on a carbed bike, or a remap on an injected bike.

I suspect it will make virtually no difference on a two stroke, and it could make it run very lean with the potential for seizure.

Lean, wtf .... i understand about the other mods/upgrades in order to make the exhaust system function improve, but lean .. that's what i'm more concerned with, running the bike right, so what's lean and what do you do to combat it .. ?? .. ta Thumbs Up

If you don't understand what running lean means then I'd suggest you avoid changing the exhaust on a bike.

Running lean means more air is moving through the engine for the same amount of fuel, which means your mixture is lean. This means the engine runs hotter and so can heat seize. The fuel in a two stroke provides much of the piston cooling which means when you run a bit rich you actually get more power through piston cooling.

Still, lots of ped bois seem to get away with stuff like that so I guess its probably OK.

I'm not bothered about pedboy mods etc, it's just that the bike linked had the arrow on it, and if i were to buy what seems a good newish biker, then i want to know what's what, as regards speed on an RS 125, well i'm going to buy a restricted model, pass my full license in the summer, then ride round legally unrestricted with no L plates, then look into something bigger next year if and when i'm bored with the 30 bhp 125 ... thanks for your explanations ... Thumbs Up Karma

I doubt that a slip on can will have ANY significant performance effect on a restricted RS125, and that looks like a nice clean undropped bike.

To be honest, I think 90% of the members of this forum who had 125's probably derestricted them. My NS125R had a full Micron system and made about 20bhp. I never got pulled over and I even did my test on that bike and no one said anything.

As long as you don't ride like a pratt you'll be OK, and when it comes down to it, there's no point buying a two stroke 125 unless you're going to derestrict it, because a CG125 is cheaper, more reliable and easier to look after.

Looking at the ebay ad, thats actually a full Arrow exhaust, which is definitely derestricted. As long as that bike has had the powervalve fitted and the carbs jetted, it will make 25-30bhp. Most definitely illegal for L plates, but who cares? no one will know anyway!

Did not notice the ad notation of 33 bhp ... mmmmm ..... what do you think to paying him 2 grand cash for it, .. ??

And he told me :

No power valve (but we can fit one if req) at extra cost
It has a full arrow exhaust
3 month parts warrenty
thanks colin

mmmm Thumbs Up

Not to hot on the current market value of RS125's but I'd question why it has a full arrow system with no powervalve motor fitted.

The RS125 was restricted by removing the powervalve motor... and also I suspect restrictions in the exhaust. I'm not sure about the logic of replacing the exhaust with an expensive aftermarket item if the bike hasn't already been brought to its full potential by having the PV motor fitted.

Seems a bit sus to me. Its a very recent RS125 for not a lot of money, no powervalve but a full Micron system...

I'd like to hear other people's opinion before I commit myself I guess...

Younger riders want more power, i dont know anybody really who went to a 125 who kept it under that limit, and powervalve is the way to go. once you fit one to the rs youll wonder why you waited..

Good point, but prudence if i buy the bike i'm after, would allow me to ride it after cbt .. restricted for a matter of weeks before adding the powervalve, just to get used to it before unleashing the powerband i've seen spoke of, which i guess is a two stroke thing, as i have powerbanded a couple of scramblers many a moon ago ...

Thanks for the unput ... Thumbs Up

But was it a pink powerband? Wink.

I just sold my Gilera SC125 for £1600 and that has 3600 miles on the clock with '08 plates. They are cheaper to buy brand new than the RS though.

As Cuban Pete said, that seems like a lot of RS125 for not a lot of money, a bit suspect.

I took my test on an unrestricted Gilera SC125, about 24-26bhp iirc and never got questioned. Thumbs Up.
