At around 15:45 I was driving in the car park of Salford Royal Hospital.

As I made my way, I saw a 58 reg Silver Toyota Aygo approaching ahead of me. The small Toyota veered across the road (-I stopped!) and hit a stationary Audi A4.

Whilst the car was moving I couldn't see what the driver was doing, but they were possibly slumped or looking down as I couldn't see their face. The collision woke/alerted the driver who I could then see to be an elderly woman of around 80.

The red arrow shows where she must have turned right, travelled in a straight line and then veered to her right into the Audi in the photo. She had straightened up by the time I'd taken the photo.

I got out and asked her what had happened, but she just said that "the car just had gone on" It blatantly had not -Toyota or not- she had steered it into the parked cars.

I suggested that she went to inform security (which she subsequently did) and should maybe consider the safety of her driving.
"I've been fine for years" she replied..........

The Police are not interested as no crime or incident has taken place Rolling Eyes

Had I been 10m further on, she would have hit me. Had there been any pedestrians she'd have mowed them down.

If you know this woman, please advise her to give up driving.

If not, be careful riding/walking in the Salford area.

The Ayago is on the recall list BUT, toyta sent out a letter to everbody telling them to clutch in and push into neutral if it went out of control, it also said you accept this is your car is not fixed and you go out for a drive, t hat you accept the risk and liabilities.

I would not put this to just elderly people though as loads of people drive completely spaced out and unaware of their surroundings, GPS exacerbates this, like when people drive off docks into rivers and the sea because they are so unaware of their surroundings.

HOWEVER I had to reach down once to put the carpet away from where the gas pedal got stuck more than once which made it look like I was head down.

This was a woman not paying attention to driving. It had all to do with steering/not looking or being conscious and had nothign to do with speed or sticking throttles.

Irrelevant in this case.

Hopefully she didn't run anybody over on the way home.

I think it could have been Kermit the Frog.

So a 80 year old person has a minor bump in a car park and you're issuing a warning to the whole of Salford via BCF.

Really? Laughing

It's not even much of a warning as the number plate is blanked out.
