All I can say is its utter bullsh1t!

According to a mag I read the other day Alderley Edge in Cheshire is one of the most richest places in the country, more people there have bigger fortunes than eslewhere in the country including london too.

This north/south divide is just nonsense, as more and more companies are moving out of the south and up north, take Manchester for one.

The south will soon be full, and there won't be enough jobs down there.

It's mainly that there's a lack of industry up here so people are moving south where the work is. It's this countries way of fucking all you Southerners over for being down there. Funny how everyone (industry-wise) wants to move South, but then they all bitch about prices etc.

I would say it's quite true.

There's more jobs for me in London than there are in the whole of the rest of the country. Most graduate jobs are in London, and they do end up getting paid better.

Sounds about right, I'm moving down South next month to get a job. The town's etc around there do appear to be more affluent.

yeah i agree there is a North/South divide I would love to earn over £20,000 a year but in the end everything roughly equals itself out.

Northern Legal Secretary = £10,000 to £20,000
Southern Legal Secretary = £25,000 to £45,000

Northern 2 bedroom house = £100,000 to £150,000
Southern 2 bedroom house = £300,000 to £350,000

I reckon that before you post this kind of ar$ehole comment you check your facts, of course there's a divide, always has been, always will be.
What I would give to be Mr. Average earner & be on £29k!!! no fuggn way can you say there's not, as has been said, parity of wages for the same job, parity of house prices....do you want me to continue?

(not spoiling for a battle mate, just think your opener was a little .............. well, wank Very Happy )

Hi

Difficult to say, but there are very rich areas outside the south east, and rear poor dumps in the south east.

While wages might be higher in the south east, so is the cost of living, and so are house prices (which might well crash, leaving loads of people seriously in debt).

All the best

Keith

It's a tad paradoxical this one because not only are the richest places in London but so are the poorest!!

I'm a northerner and live in Wilmslow (about 10 miles south of Manchester) which is about 2 miles away from Alderley Edge (mentioned above) and 3 from Nether Alderley (where the really rich people live) - it may be northern but it's the only place I've ever seen two Ferraris revving up against each other at a set of traffic lights!!

I guess the key thing here is quality of life, I graduated from Uni in 2002 and took a northern based graduate job earning about £3K less than my London counterparts.

Thing is though my quality of life is far better than any of theirs. I’m 24, I run a new car and a bike, I live 5 minutes walk away from work and have money left over at the end of the month for all those ‘extra curricular’ activities - sure there may be more to do in London, but that's no help if you've no cash to go and do it!!

I guess what I’m trying to say is that it’s not all bad up here in t’narth!

Chris

There's definately a north south divide. I'm from Yorkshire but have spent time near Reading and Guilford with the army, and the southern jobs are far better paid.

But it doesn't just mean the pay - far more money is placed into the south. Hospitals, for example, are of much better quality in the Salisbury then they are in Bradford. Aswell as this public services are far better.

Yet people from the south are still tw@ts Wink Middle Finger Razz lol.
