Last year I crashed my ZXR400, came off at 30/40ish after hitting a curb, got spat off the bike and into a wall face first, it split my helmet down the middle Shocked and mashed my face up as I bit through my lips, knocked teeth back etc

It split my bottom lip right through the center and has never properly healed! almost constantly it's re-split and can be painful, althought not that bothered about the pain (remind me I'm still alive Razz) but it means I can't usualy eat much and is annoying as when it bleeds, well, it bleeds hell of a lot.

Does anyone know anything that's actually any good at healing lips? it does my head in and want it to repair itself and stop cutting again.

Silly question for a bike forum, but hey, your all people, people know weird shit, hopefully someone will know something that's good Razz

If you have money to spare you could always enquire into surgery to correct it.
Or duct tape, I don't really know about these things. Very Happy

Just wondering how you got your grippers repaired. Did you get a dentist to re-set each tooth or had new ones put?

Maybe this is warning that bikers should wear gum shields Smile

Salt water?

I swill some of that in mouth, whenever i have a cut or something. Not sure how it helps but it does, apparetly...

Probably really hurt in your case though Laughing .

Dont smile hard/eat quickely, or in any way force the split to open up otherwise it'll stay open for ages... Try and keep it closed for as long as possible in orded to heal.

Super glue is used for other cuts, not sure about lips though. The best thing is to swill it out with salt water (cleans it out) and eat and talk etc as carfully as possible. (If you try this, make sure you have something to sqeeze hard 'coz it would probably sting like fook.) Has worked with many a sore mouth left from an over violent pillow fight in the dorm!
Other than that, if it is really bad then take a trip to the local GP.
Hope this helps, Pete

I suppose having the medic glue themselves to you would ensure you got the best treatment.

All the best

Yams... Call this unconventional, but I heard of a new concept called "Hospitals"... They have this whacko idea about people with injuries being able to go there and get them healed.

Sheesh? What next... Thought Id mention it anyway though.

I would assume their "super glue" is slightly different to the one which we can buy in shops? The one we buy in shops has lots of warnings about avoiding contact with skin etc, so it strikes me as something I'd leave to the doctors doing. At least ask your GP if it's okay to use super glue before you use it, but he might mark you down as being more than slightly strange afterwards Laughing.

They stich stuff closed when needed as opposed to pouring superglue in to open cuts to let it hold them shut.

Hospitals are usually good. I had a friend with the same problem and he had to get it stitched, although that sounds even more painful.

Best idea would be to see your doctor.

Go to a hospital. Otherwise it'll just get worse and worse.

Seen this quite a few times on my travels through A&E. 99% chance it'll be stiched together.

I have the superglue thing in my scalp too, needed it after my sister so lovingly pushed me into a wooden chair and cut a big deep gash down my head, yummy!
