page 174

The clampdown on speeding bike continues with an announcment from surveillance technology giant spyco that an aerial micro-camera is in the final stages of development.
The "insect aircraft", code-named Bugcatcher, is capable of flying at speeds of up to 300mph, enabling it to pursue and capture speeding bikers on microfilm. Bases closely on the exoskeleton of the Green hornet, one of natures most aerodynamic shapes, the Bugcatcher is believed to weigh less than 50 grams. Four miniature solar panels provide power for the bugcatcher. These carbon/carbon ovoids are based on the highly efficient honeybee wing, which has the highest lift to surface area ratio in the insect kingdom. "we see the device as the ultimate wepon in the war against speeding bikes," said spyco spokesman Karl Fleischman. "It is crucial in the war against reckless riding."
Riders groups have condemned the spy-in-the-sky. "this is an outrage," said Miles Perrar of BAST (bikers against speeding tickets)
"this can now target individual bikers in their war against freedom. And getting nicked by a bluebottle will be more than most riders can stand."

oooo-errrr Confused

they wish Wink

haha funny

Put it this way, they cant even make a wing for one of those theoretical mechanical insects yet, and they barely understand the physics of how the airflow at those sizes works. so the development of such technology is WAY off yet. as powering one, batteries are too heavy. even real insects cant do 300mph so how the hell an electronic one will i dont know! Razz

such things are in development, but the chances of them bieng used to stop people speeding are zero Wink

Even if they had invented something, all you'd need is a fly swatter Laughing

Maybe in thirty/fourty years time, even if technology like this did exist, it would be far to costly, to be used for police work. I should imagine that the cost of something like this would pay for 5-10 Gatso's
