I have a bunch of photos I took whilst snorkelling, but being a n00b at both snorkelling and taking photos most have come out quite green in colour (not helped by my having to use a Samsung Pixon phone to take them instead of my digital camera coz I couldn't find a waterproof pouch to fit my camera). Some of the brighter coloured ones I've managed to bring up quite well in photoshop 8 but the ones which are taken from more than a few feet suffer badly from loss of colour. I need some advice on how to bring them up the best I can. I'll stick a couple of examples here so you can see what I'm up against.

sounds like you may need to change the white balance. Not sure how to do it on jpgs, but I'm sure there's a plug in for it. Thumbs Up

Here is one that I'd really like to improve. I have some which are much better and I know I can't increase the detail here but if I can improve the colours it would be a start:

With the better photos I've had good enough results using 'colour balance'. Some of them I can almost remove the green 'wash-out' completely.

I'm just about to head out but had a quick play for a minute. Looks a bit better but certainly not as good as it could look if you had say 15 mins to spend on it.

My best effort after messing with the contrast and brightness.

Hey that's not bad. I've been experimenting and found that I can get good results using 'selective colour', choosing neutrals and taking out colour from that. It doesn't mess with the original colours so much.

This one is causing me a bit of trouble. Looks like there are some good colours to be brought out but I just don't seem to be able to get them. This one was taken on a waterproof disposable camera:

I like that - a little less harsh on the coral-reflected sunlight Thumbs Up

Nice one Flip - I used your top image and applied 'despeckle', added a slight 'underwater' filter and came up with this:

It's rare that I'm helpful on here, it's made me feel all warm and fuzzy. I think that's what caused it anyway.
