Hi Guys,
Currently looking to chop out of my Blackberry handset and into an iPhone, but I have one question before I do.
Seens as though the iPhone doesnt properly support background processes, is there a way to get TRUE push-mail (And I mean TRUE Push-Mail, not pulled mail that syncs every 10/15 minutes).
I ask as I rely on push-mail for alot of business, and the blackberry never fails to impress, often syncing before my exchange box
I regularly have this debate with a colleague, where we send an email and cc the other, and my phone has the email instantly, while he is still waiting minutes later.
If push-mail is available (even as an app/etc) then the iPhone shall be myn.....
Is it also possible to set different notification alerts (ring tones, vibrate times etc) for different email accounts as I can on the blackberry?
Cheers ____________________ What restriction? |

Yes it does receive proper push email.
I use it with my exchange server at work and it is absolutely fine. Also all the usuals like Hotmail etc will push, and yes. it's proper push not just a timed pulling! Although should you have an email address on a server that doesn't push then timed pull can be very handy!
As far as a different tone for each email, no, it won't do that
The built in apps (which mail is) multi task, so mail will run in the background, whilst the phone is running and the ipod etc etc. It's only 3rd party apps that it won't allow to run simultaneously. Although a lot of apps now incorporate push notifications so they don't need to be running to receive notifications of things! ____________________ Love is 1050cc |
