The blonde one from girls aloud used to go to my school. And I also used to go to school with one of the guys in that new (crappy) pop group called POP. And have met Prince Phillip. Think thats about it.

But my mum has met loads of the England rugby team, loads of golfers and is very chatty with Bruce Forsyth!

Following on from that, I know Sir Godfrey Hounsfield - The inventor of the CAT scanner used in medicine. He used to teach me piano and some science/maths stuff when I used to go round there with my mum when I was a young lad, my mum still sees him regularly. Very Happy

Other than that... I socialise (Wink) with some fairly well known DJ's on the hard dance scene every weekend, but not any really massive international DJ's. Though I have said hello to a few of the international ones. Very Happy

I did say modern jet engine. Sir Frank Whittle invented the first jet engine (was in a race with the germans at the time) but his design was over sized and frankly crap.

My grandad and obviously the team under his supervision, invented the modern jet engine whos design from 50 years ago is still used in all the aircraft today.
Everyone only hears and knows it as whittles engine because he technically invented the first ever one and got all the glory and the recognition.
My grandad Raymond Howells design was literally revoloutionary and completely different from whittles.

That's Whittles actual engine, couldn't find my grandads exact one but looking at any modern jet engine is close enough Smile The secret was in the precise array of blades.

I'd love to present Tomorrow's World! I applied for an open competition for it but they weren't interested in me. Sad

I met the queen earlier this year, which was an experience, regardless of whether you think much of the royals or not

Stephen Hawking, i have a huge respect for him, and my cousin, studying at Trinity College Cambridge, has Stephen Hawking as his mentor for PHD

my cousin made a few appearances on the sky at night, which was cool to see, and generally has a fair bit of involvement with mr hawking's engagements, i was in the same room as the man once, never formally introduced, but what the hell would you say if you were?

still, a memorable moment there Cool wish i could understand what the hell my cousin studies tho, he has tried many times to explain it to me, its just gone straight over my head Razz

My office is in Covent Garden and we used to have a big list on the wall of 'famous people who had seen us'. The list stretched to 226 celebs and actors before we lost interest in it. Some I can remember are:
Eddie Izzard twice - once in a dress, once in trousers eating a banana (great bloke, had a nice chat)
Dave Prowse - the very tall bloke who played Darth Vader
Paula Yates - very tasty
Timothy Spall - pudding faced actor, rushed into the pub and drank a scotch down then rushed out
Clive James - small and round, cheap shoes
Nicole Kidman - red hair and lovely
Anthony Hopkins - very small feet
Steven Hawking - racing along in his chair

My most recent claims to fame:
Euwan McGregors dad - we've had a couple of long chats at a golf tournament I was working at. Talked about bikes, Euwan had bought him one for his birthday a couple of years ago, talked about his sons trip round the world.

And... I shared a dinner table with the King of Ghana!

Most of the 'famous' people I've met gave been through work and racing.

Met Nigel Mansell twice. Damon Hill once. Jackie Stewart several times. Rubens Barichello on numerous occasions, before he got into F1. Same with Christian Fittipaldi (famous for flipping a Mindardi through 360 degrees backwards) when he was in F3.
A friend of mine ran Juan Pablo Montoya in F3 before he went to Indycars.
Worked with Jason Plato, Yvan Muller and James Thompson in the BTCC and Derek Warwick (ex F1 and World Sportscar Champion)

Met and spoken to Takuma Sato before he went F1, while he was in F3.

Helped run the first racing car that Oliver Gavin ever raced. You're all thinking, who? He used to have the job of driving the F1 safety/pace car for about four years.

Met Martin Donnelly (Lotus F1 driver, had a HUGE shunt which finished his career) while he was in hospital as I am good friends with his sister.

Murray Walker, had conversations with him, he's a top bloke! Thumbs Up
Martin Brundle, again, on numerous occasions.
Tiff Needell, loads of times, through working with him and being in racing.
James May (Top Gear presenter) and Mike Brewer (Driven presenter) got incredibly drunk with them at Goodwood a few years ago before doing a driving day at the circuit (the next day I hasten to add!) Also spent several hours at Le Mans getting drunk with Brewer too and also been for a elicopter ride with him, he still has a picture of me looking slightly worried in the front seat, so he tells me when I see him!

Been a passenger in a rally car with Gwyndaf Evans.

Interviewed the current fastest man on the planet (Andy Green) and the former fastest man on the planet (Richard Noble) at the launch of the Thrust SSC project. Have a rather nice signed print of the car with those two and the designer's signatures on it.
Have also conversed with Howard Stapleford (talking of Tomorrows World presenters) as he was part of the project in the beginning.

Interviewed Mike Smith (former Radio One DJ, Noel Edmonds bitch and ex Mr Sarah Greene) before.

Met Rowan Atkison, very brielfy, at a race meeting once, did a Mr Bean skit and had us rolling!

Know Shane Lynch (former Boyzone, now The Games Champion) as he races GT cars. Have heard some great stories from him during nights in bars!

Met Prince Andrew, that was through work last year.

My former boss is the oldest man to have walked to the South Pole, made the news at the beginning of last year, he and his son did it together.

My mates friend who went on a track day with us a few weeks ago works for the BAR team and is Jenson Button race mechanic. I didn't know until my mate told me, he looked familar but couldn't place him! Laughing

Met and took the mickey out of former Top Gear man Steve Berry at the motorshow once.

My uncle was very good friends with Barry Sheene too, had known him since he started racing.

One of the coolest things I've seen was while I was at Uni my mate got into a conversation about famous people, heroes and who we'd met. I said Mansell and Hill were about the best I could muster. He reaches into his wallet and brings out a photo of him shaking hands with Muhammed Ali! Shocked Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Cool That was the coolest!

I have an engraved Rolex given to me by King Hussain of Jordan, and I spent a very pleasant few days as the guest of the Sultan of Bruni Embarassed

This is on top of those that I posted before and I can remember.

My daughter has a list of celebs I either know or I have met and she told me last night that it runs to about 1500.

It was good fun teaching Johnny Herbert and Damon Hill how to ride at advanced level (both dead keen bikers), and my daughters prized possesion is a picture of Danni Minogue bouncing her on her knee at her christening 12 years ago! Mr. Green

Laughing I was wondering who was going to be the first to say that. Wink

Talking of the M. Ali photo, my brother has a rather cool picture of him shaking hands with "Mad Frankie Fraser" at a boxing meet. Cool

I've got a pic of me and my best mate Thomas Woodward. If we talk about him enough he's bound to become famous and then i can join in this conversation better.

I was in the same year as Gail Porter - I think I was in the same modern studies class in 5th or fourth year.... maybe a couple of other classes, ... Swimming/PE as well definately (was a long long time ago!)

Anyway, she is definately brownette - one of my mates rushed the girls changing rooms after a swimming lesson and came out shouting "Gails got a big brown hairy twat!"

One of the other guys in my year also told me how she gave one of the guys in my Art Design class a good hand job under his track suit at one of the school "disco" - can't confim this 'cos I stayed well away from school as often as possible Wink

Do i win?

Hmmn. Had lunch with Nigel Mansell when I was under a year old. Met and talked to Dougie Lampkin and Steve Colley (from the world trials chamionship) got autographed posters courtesy of my dad of Villnueve, Hill, Colin Edwards (i think) and others from cars, bikes and truck racing. (Dad works for Castrol.) Dad alos did some stuff on the oil for the williams F1 team a few years ago. Three years ago I was a part of the marching band from school that played as the Queen left Bisham Abbey after the golden jubilee stuff. Queen came to the school to open the Falkland Islands memorial Chapel. I think Paula Yates was a very distant relation. Step-dad's uncle worked with Douglas Bader sometime, and my step-dad flew Bader in the 70's I think.
Othetr than that, not a lot I don't think, though parents etc have met people.
Pete
