 |
|
Afternoon everyone,
I've been looking to buy a new set of 2 piece leathers for some time now & I've finally decided to bite the bullit & go for it.
There is nothing particularly wrong with the leathers I have at the moment. I bought them from Ebay, 2nd hand for £51 & they fit me like a glove, but are rather old on the 'technical' side of things (if that's the correct word to use ) so I'm wanting to upgrade the whole lot, boots & gloves included
Now I've managed to narrow the makes down to Arlen Ness,
Berik & Dainese.
Now the models I'm looking at are
Arlen Ness LS2 7871: My preferred choice.
https://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b95/richgt4/Bike%20photos/img_4162_suit.jpg
LS2 5912: 2nd choice.
https://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b95/richgt4/Bike%20photos/Arlenblkmofo.jpg
& possibly the LS2 8310: are in my size, but not my 1st choice & a bit more than what I'm really wanting to spend.
https://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b95/richgt4/Bike%20photos/AN8310.jpg
Berik: 7889
https://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b95/richgt4/Bike%20photos/img_5024_7889.jpg
Dainese Laguna Seca:
https://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b95/richgt4/Bike%20photos/200733151424.jpg
I've tried the Dainese 2 piece suit on @ P&H cycles & the fit was really good, but I want to try the Arlen Ness ones on as well, but I'm having real trouble finding the Arlen Ness suits in stock & in my size (38UK).
I've had a look @ MCLeathers (Harpers) site & Cissbury Leathers as well, to no avail as MC said 38's will be tough to find & strangely enough Cissbury Leathers said Arlen Ness & Berik don't make a size 38
Does anyone know of any Arlen ness/Berik retailers in the South East that I can actually go & try the leathers on, rather than ordering over the net & finding out they don't fit me.
I realise this post may sound fussy, but I don't want to spend x amount of money on a set of leathers to find out I can't return them etc etc.
So I thought I'd ask you chaps for a lil' advice

Get a set of custom made leathers if your having trouble.
I had trouble because I'm very tall I got a set of made to measure leather from Arc-On. All in all I think it was £550, good quality and fit.
Mine was similar to your designs too

Noxious89123: I was talking about the 2 pc leather sets, not individual tops & bottoms, which you can get in a size 38 from Berik & Arlen ness as I tried these on but I'm a fussy bugger
However, I have now decided to forget about the Berik & Arlen ness leathers & go for the new Dainese Laguna Seca leather set in white & black as I think it's lush .
Does anyone know if/where I can get them cheaper than the £780 price tag that my local bike shop are wanting for them Had a quick browse on the net & couldn't find anything significantly cheaper

Thats what my girlfriend said. But it's either the white one above or the black one, which I can get for £500 as it's last years model. But my concerns are that I'll not easily be seen wearing the all black leathers, & we need all the help we can get to be seen by dozy car drivers

You could always wear a High Viz Vest
Id say go for whichever is the comfiest to wear on the bike.
I think I've got the LS2 5912 your second choice, I cant remember TBH. If it is, then I've had them for just over a year and they are very very comfy. Way better than the IXS ones that I had before that.
My Knox back protector also fits in no problems.

Keep an eye on ebay, you can get some incredible bargains on leathers if you're patient, especially whilst the weather is bad ____________________ 2010 Triumph 1050 Sprint ST |

@ WishayKillie: Yeah I could always wear a high vis vest, but......mmmmmph
@ Tonka: I'm a summer rider only I'm afraid so I'm hoping the white won't fade too much. I plan to hopefully keep them for 5 odd years. My size hasn't changed over the last 10 years (I'm 32 now) & hopefully I'm not gonna balloon out overnight
@ Hazylogic: I went to the London bike show a few weeks ago, but again all the reduced gear is way too big
I think I'll try both suits on & see which is best
Thanks for all your constructive comments.

White detailing is nice enough, but I'd wager an all white suit like that would be a complete nightmare to look after. The white bits on my gloves and suit are bad enough and they are only small bits of trim ____________________ 2010 Triumph 1050 Sprint ST |

Why are people recomending Dainese? , the quality of their stuff fell through the floor a while ago, single stitching is common!, even that ex bike cop safety guy said they were like tissue paper if you fell off.
Hell even my Dainese suit burst at the seams in several places in a high speed off. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. did you try a 40 in arlen ness/berik? Im a 38 in most leathers but my arlen ness 1pc suit is a 40 and a little tight - they come up quite small. ____________________ Current : '08 Yamaha FZ1s

Yes Keir I did try Berik & Arlen Ness in a size 40, but was way too big. I did hear that Arlen Ness & Berik were on the small side, which is why I tried on a 40 at cissbury leathers in Worthing.
I did try on a one peice Arlen Ness suit, which was a nice fit, but the old fella & his two chums were quite clearly on show
Now where can I get these Dainese leathers cheaper than P&H
