Bikes for tall people?

Hi all!

I passed my mod2 a couple of weeks ago so now I'm looking for a nice bike, something around a 600. Theres a couple of GSX's in my local Suzuki shop for around my budget (£2000ish) and they're both pretty low mileage. My only worry is are they going to be to small since I'm a little on the lanky side? I'm 6'3" so I don't want anything too small. Are there any more tall folk out there who have had a problem? Or should I just get on and buy one?

Any help will be well appreciated cheers guys.

KTM Duke 990...I have inside leg 35" and am almost on tippy toes astride one of these.

i'm about your height and just about fitted alright on a Yamaha fzs600 fazer.
go and sit on it in the shop you'll get a feel for what you can put up with

Yeh I'm not so sure about the 990, since I've only just passed my test so I don't know about going straight onto a 1k yet. I mean I know I only have to ride as quick as I want to, but I'd rather get a fair bit of experience on something a bit smaller first. Also I've been advised that a transalp would be a good one for me, but I always thought they were more for long touring than general motoring?

Also I learnt on a GS500, and a little bit on an ER5, and they weren't too bad, although I did get a little cramped up after a couple of solid hours. Having said that when I'm riding on my own theres nothing to stop me from pulling over and stretching my legs every now and then. And since I checked MCN which says that the seat heights are lower on both the ER5 and the GS500. Am I just worrying over nothing? lol

Any trail bike bar the Xt600 which is rather low, TDM850 and old super tenere are good ones too course you can always build a bigger seat although this will stick your head into the wind some more.

Go for a TDM I'm 6'5" and it fits me fine, brilliant bikes don't let the fact it's a 850/900cc put you off it has about the same powder as a GSX and is lighter. I feel it is a brilliant starter bike for tall people.

I ride a 600 Transalp and it's perfect for my daily commute to work. Being 6 foot and the wrong side of 18 stone it's also a very comfy riding position. You can also add a fair amount of hard luggage to it if you want to go further distance.

I'm 6 foot 6, all height in the body, and I used to find a GS500 comfortable enough for a days riding. My head would get helmet sore well before anything else complained.
