I'm thinking about getting one, Considering I paid £32 something to get the S4 tyres changed (Loose Wheel) I figure this might be worth getting. Does it work? Is it easy?

Thanks

Chris

I've got the bead breaker and the levers shown. The breaker cost about 50 quid, the levers were £7.50 each. The levers are the most essential part of that collection, they may not look much but they are the bees' bollocks. I think they are made by Buzzeti?

Most tyres you won't need the bead breaker, I had to have it, Africa Twin rear tyres weld themselves on, so much in fact I once had a 90mph puncture and I still had to use the breaker before I could remove the tyre. All other bikes I have worked on, you could break the bead with a foot or even hand pressure.

Tyre soap is a good buy, I bought some about 10 years ago and I am only halfway down the tub, done a lot of tyres with it plus some mates have pinched small amounts to take home.

If you are fitting tubeless tyres you are going to need a decent air line to blast the bead onto the tyre. There are ways of doing it with a footpump and a piece of rope but it's a bit long winded.

What do you mean blast the bead on to the tire? I have a fair sized compresser with an airline.

That will do.

Personally, I still wouldn't change my own tyres.

I used a 12v car compressor for one of my tyres and then paid 20p at the local garage to do the other.

He has a compressor anyway so he won't be needing to burn stuff.

It can be a total ball ache using that equipment.....

On sportsbike wheels you might struggle, some sports tyres are a bastard to remove. But then some are easy (especially worn out Supercorsa's/racetecs)

I have changed lots of tyres using the proper kit, and a few with the manual stuff, and i 100% prefer the proper kit!

I have known people to damage rims using manual changers.

I generally do my own dirt bike tyres, where you can just jump on to break the bead - jumping on a spade on my zx9 didn't get near breaking the bead on the read.

It's easy enough to make your own balancer, as good as you want - on that, it shouldn't be too hard to make bead breaker yourself for that matter.

If you've got the space and something to carry them, worth keeping an eye on ebay for tyre machines, though you'll need an air line too, but should make it a hell of a lot easier and damage free.

Agree with that. I used two garden chairs with a length of cane in the middle.

i've done the last 3 sets on the cbr with nothing more than a few random bits of wood a couple of improvised levers some rim protectors and a foot pump.

I can do the complete job including removing and installing wheels in about an hour and a half.

How the hell did you seat the bead with no compressor on a tubeless tyre? Neutral

never had a problem using a footpump on tubeless, usually the air only escapes in one place so i just push down on the tyre there, once it starts to inflate its plain sailing.
