I would say looks aren’t too important to me, this was my sports bike until recently, now I’ve got a shiny dirty GSXR fully clothed.
An opportunity for ugly bike picture-whoring ...

im all for ease of use, and sports bikes while they are fast, they are generally uncomfortable for someone as tall as me, and servicing is an arse, what with all fairings and the compact frame design,
im more of a big thumper kinda guiy, the crappy mz500 covers pretty much all areas, apart from high speed stuff, and the vf1000 covers that to a degree, all the rest of my bikes are just for playing with
to summarise, i don't care about looks and i don't care about performance, handling is good, but i quite like a good battle with a bike ____________________ the humans are dead

I'm 100% into the handling, as long as there's just enough power to get from one corner to the next without falling asleep and allow overtaking. I also only really like clip-ons so that kind of precludes a lot of non-sportsbikes with a few exceptions (like the CB1 I'm looking for) otherwise I'd consider something like a Hornet.
Image I couldn't give two shits about really although I suppose I'd feel like a twat riding around on something really small like a cbr125 with the skinny wheels etc. lying flat on the tank to overtake lorries at 65 mph ____________________ ZX6R + CBR600RR |

If you count a busa as a sports bike, I bought it cause I like big powerful bikes (had ZZR'x FJ12's etc.) but I also got it because it was a busa and I always wanted one. However I will never ever get the best out of it as I'm just not a good enough rider therefore I'm a poseur ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |

i got my CBR6 because i had a poster of one on my wall as a kid, always preferred the sportsbike image but i wouldnt say thats all im interested in.
there are a few nakeds i like but the wind buffetting on them vs faired bikes always swings me to faired.
i like the looks, the speed, the handling and the comfort my sportsbike gives me; perhaps my tastes will change as i age but for now im a sportsbike person for all the above reasons ____________________ CBR954RR - Daily toy

I've ridden all sorts of bikes. I don't like all out sportsbikes, I find they are too low down, and I always feel that little bit reserved that if I drop it, it's going to cost a lot of money. I'd much prefer to have a medium powered supermoto, but you need deep pockets to throw at one.
My current bike is a 300 quid matt black gt550, it'll do around a ton, carry a passenger comfortably, and will even wheelie with the right technique. I'm an averagely fast rider (still got young and stupid going on) and spank my housemate on his VFR, I'll be interested to see how I fare on the tighter twisties against squiffy on his k2 thou.
Just needs a different set of tyres, 90 profiles aren't that great for handling at the moment.

My bike taste is as varied as my music taste, although i can only comment on looks ....
I hope one day i can get a nice full powered bike that i like the look of and can ride to it's potential, i don't like the idea of having a bike i can only ride say upto 80 % of it's ability ... ____________________ Flip Wrote: You're a bloke, you don't need kids. I rode sportsbikes because they are the ultimate in motorcycling technology.
Making the choice to buy one is like going to asda for your tea with a tenner in your pocket and being faced with a choice between a fillet steak or a budget beefburger.
I think for most riders its a phase that must be lived through as part of the biking experience. If you can afford the best you buy the best, if you cant-you dont.
In my case its a phase thats almost out of my system now because a sportsbike isnt practical for me anymore.Other things are becoming more important like fuel economy and comfort so my next bike will be bought on those two features first.
I will always be drawn to flashy sportsbikes though because they have that effect on me, much the same as im drawn towards pretty girls with their tits and arses hanging out, but will i ever take on another one purely for fun? ..i would like to say no but the answers probably yes |
