Thinking of buying this - anyone got any hints/tips/advice ?

I have an 'oppurtunity' to buy an NSR400 from a relatives best mate.
Its been sat in a dry garage for years ..... hardly ever ridden .. and started up everynow and then.

Good bikes ?
Hard for parts ?
What to look for?
Price ranges ?
etc - any advice or experience would be muchly appreciated.

Only thing I know about them is the flywheel sometimes gets stuck on the crank and you have to chop them off.

Spares I'm not sure, but I have the contact details of a guy in Huddersfield who breaks a lot of them for spares (his garage was chocker with bits) if you decide to buy it.

Its actually an NS400R, and it won't handle or even go like a modern bike. It will feel rather old and ratty compared to any road bike you've ridden.

However it is a Honda and a two stroke, therefore it will be very very good fun! If you like two strokes, go for it. If you don't... don't bother.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

If it's a good price, then it's definitely worth considering for an investment/selling on straight away.

If it is in really good nick, I'd be more worried about riding it than other bikes as these days quite a lot of the value can be tied to that.

ts kind of like the vf1000 they are pretty fast kind of cool to look at and lust after, they are more a part of biking history than an every day bike, id buy it in a second

Handling was amazing for the time. Problem is that in real life they are no quicker than a good YPVS but have all the faggotry of nikasil, extra cylinder etc. Some spares will be difficult, as well as the usual stuff like bodywork - last time I looked some engine spares were getting scarce which is a big worry.
