Urgh, I'm currently writing a nice essay on novel zoonotic viruses, and yes it is 05:25 as I write this.

So far I've had 8 cans of coke since midnight.

They seem to be helping keep me awake.

They are however making my inside make very funny noises.

I also am pissing like I was drunk, often, a lot, and clear as a stream.

It makes my teeth feel sticky.

I am now farting.

I hope my essay reads better than this.

Urgh, I have a lecture at 0900 - 1300

I'm nearly half done with this though.

Guess I'd better have a point, what's the best way to stay up for deadlines?
What was the most stupid thing you have done to stay up?

ha ha, I remember those days where I used to pull all nighters at uni. Assignments were always left until last minute. No wonder I only got a 3rd.

I used to leave the window right open to keep it cool, had relitively fast music on, and proplus every so often. Don't take too many though or you start feeling a bit mental.

The other way would be the coke method....not Coke Cola. One or two lines will make you feel pretty sorted, just don't go overboard or your essay may start including random thoughts into it ha ha

Ahh but it's never one or two lines, before he knows it he will have clapped off a couple of grams and forgot that he was doing an essay. Maybe speed would be better, but then again as you say the essay will be full of unrelated crap and the comedown is horrific.

Guess you just gotta stick to the coffee.....or not
start assignments the night before they are due in.

16:00 tomorrow.. How many words is it? That's plenty of time for a 2-3 thousand word report/assignment. I used to start at 5pm and go all through the night and hand it in by 9am... Man up! Wink

Yea it's not the typing that's the hard bit, it's the references.

So far I've 400 words, and 25 references.

It's only about 1600 words total.

Nearly every sentence has to be referenced to a proper, pier reviewed scientific journal.

It takes about 5 minutes to find out the information you want on google/ wikipedia, and then another 30 minutes trying to find that information in a reference-able source lol.

All our crap is in Harvard, which is gay as its easier to just use Vancouver, which most journals are in, so I have my references, then I'm going to have to re arrange them all at the end lol.

I always manage to get away with finishing assignments without any references in my uni work at all Shocked I think I'm starting to be hated for it.

Anyway, know how you feel. I had an incident last year involving 2 or 3 litres of relentless to finish a project. I didn't sleep for three days though.

Right, no more talking you.

Savage, snorting proplus works Thumbs Up Maybe get hold of some speed and see if you're able to focus on it, if you're even slightly ADD/ADHD you may find you can. I can revise a semesters notes in 5 hours on speed Laughing Did some cracking exams on it too.

As for references, don't go crazy trying to get primary source and 'science' articles every time. And Google Scholar is your friend, always found it turned up a fuckload more stuff then web of knowledge.

I'm using PubMed at the moment, but its mostly using it to get info and then referencing its references lol

I'll give google scholar a go.

And as for snorting pro plus etc, I'm actually in a bad enough way from the cola I wouldn't want to risk it lmao. Laughing

Ok Maybe not 3-4 thousand... It was 1,500 but still true it was done in one night. I got a third, and my housemate who did the same got a 2:1... go figure!?

That Harvard referencing is a headfvck!! Good luck mate, i'm glad im not in your boots.

Oo, no ... I always preferred Harvard than Vancouver. All that twatting about with numbers (and often in "superscript") in Vancouver - if you take one out or add one, you got to renumber everything, sod that.

I liked Harvard. Name them, put the date. And then make it all alphabetical. Much less stress.

Or maybe its changed? Not done papers for several years now.

Only bastards are the papers with 10+ authors Rolling Eyes

And making sure they're all formatted identically.

That's my forte Mr. Green

Tedious reference formatting, I used to do it for pin money - and of course the pleasure of being pernickety.

God how many PhD students I've sent away with instructional fleas in their ear about providing all the authors names on references LOL

From September 2014 to January/February 2015 I will not be using any English, nor reading any. As such, I won't be on here. PM at will, but I won't be checking/posting unless in emergencies. Certainly not for the first couple of months. Please berate me savagely if I break that rule...
