what do you use to clean your leathers

summers on its way and i just been going through my wardrobe and came across my leathers which i obviously forget to clean at the end of last year now to say the least there is a whole array of flys and guts all over them and i was just wondering what would be best to clear all the road shit and fly stuff of them...granted they are about fecked but they only got to last a couple ofmonths till i have money for a new set.

Any help would be appriciated =)

slightly irrelevant but, i went in the shower wearing my textile jacket, and the amount of crap that came out of it was amazing!

you can get leather cleaning cream which takes most of the crap off, usually comes with the leathers, hopefully someone can come along with a link...

see thats an old army trick going in the shower wth your noew boots on can make them give slightly quicker than yompin them in workin with bike boots and leathers but with how the weather is at the mo they would take years to dry. or i could be a tart and just leave them on there...

either soapy water or horse leather cleaning stuff not 100% sure as it's all at home

Saddle soap is the one, I don't have any though so I just don't clean them, I probably should as there must be some prehistoric flies embedded in them.

I use Glipton leather cleaner and then Glipton leather cream. Cleans a treat and smells nice too

Hein Gericke sell Muc-Off leather wipes. I usually use a Muc Off wipe and then some Leather waterproofing stuff I also got from Hein Gericke.

I've also got some Leder-Gris polish stuff that helps to waterproof seams too.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Try not to use anything too abrasive because if you dont clean it all away from the stitched areas, it can rub and cause the stitching to break. Also saddle soap, if not wiped properly can remain sticky and bits of grit again gets into the stitched areas and sticks with the saddle soap and the same problem occurs. I used to use a product called Liquid Leather. You might be able to get it on ebay?

If I'm going to clean mine, I'll probably just use some warm water and soap. If I ask my sister nicely she may have some saddle soap from her pony.
