As far as I know if you are patient the chances are you will get new residents without having to buy any. I found a toad in the hedge at the back of the garden and the nearest water is a good half mile away across the field, so they do travel!

Alternatively, try and find someone with a pond and see if you cna have some frog spawn as there is always loads and people are normally happy to share.

HTH Thumbs Up

Is the landlord going to mind you digging a hole in their garden?

Aye, things will turn up. Frogs magically just do, bless em. But frogspawn isn't exactly hard to nick. Just go to the country in spring and get a couple of small handfulls from somewhere. Note, the ones you touch do die, so bring a pot eh Wink

Newts are quite fussy. Best bet is stocking it really, but they're expensive to buy and I'm not telling you where to steal them Wink

If the pond is healthy and has a good ecosystem, given time, in just about any garden, you will get everything Thumbs Up

Whilst on pondy subjects, I too have a hankering for a small pond.

But the only place that suits me in my back garden is a tiny patch of ground which backs up against the manhole cover.

What is the sense (or otherwise) of creating my pond there?

I'm talking literally, a shape probably not much bigger than 12x18" and maybe 9" deep (or maybe just deep enough to sink this fountain spigot thingie I've got). And I wanna have like a little mountain of stones and run a river down into the "pond", and back up the side of the mountain again.

I don't give a monkeys what my "landlord" thinks Shocked

I doubt if I could EVEN manage that right now.

Don't take the piss, sunshine, else I'll make you spend your birthday stripped to the waist digging said pond whilst I perve from my bedroom window.

*fans self fretfully at the very thought*

I'm sure they don't mind you spending the money when they approve of what you're doing, but they might not want the pond.

I'm not trying to be an arse - if you can get it in writing that they don't mind, then they won't withold any money from you when you come to move out to make it good.

Or, be prepared to make it good before you leave.

If they can fuck you, they will.

Yes babes, but you have a 100 foot garden, how small a pond is "small" ?
Laughing

I quite like the idea of frogs myself, only I don't fancy crunching them underfoot when undertaking bathroom visits in the middle of the night.

Why have you got so many red blobs?
You seem like a perfectly nice chap to me.
Anybody who offers me a go of paddling in their spa pool, erm ... pond, is okay in my books.

Have you been upsetting the karma freaks with bad spelling and snide remarks that upset their ordered little applecarts?

Well, a man who knows how to use the word "dastardly" correctly in a sentence can't really be a man who deserves three and a half pink blobs Wink

(what does cnc3 mean?)
