Dodgy or what?

So me and the other half are looking to move into a house in Basildon very soon.

As we found you seem to get stung a fair bit from Estate Agents i appealed directly to Landlords via Gumtree..

Here was one of the replies:

Ignoring the generally bad english and knowing not everyone is a bright spark, i thought i'd enquire further...


Again this was the reply i received:

I have a 2 bedroom property is located in Basildon and it is 500 pounds per month including all
bills(utility bills,council tax,water,gas,e.t.c)while the security
deposit is 600 pounds but the security would be refunded back to you

Yes they are the original size.. kinda look like they are stolen from a catalogue don't they? Now google Clifford James... guess what it is.. a catalogue haven't found those pictures yet but i reckon its where they come from maybe...

What do you all reckon? Scam???

When me and the gf were looking around here we saw a few flats/houses on gumtree and emailed them all for details. They about 6 out of 10 sent back the same email and the same pictures.

Some others have said stuff like it's their flat but they work in Italy so to show you the flat they need to fly back. They ask you to paypal the deposit just incase they fly over and you don't turn up so they haven't had a wasted journey. What they are really going to do is keep your deposit and your fubared.

sometimes they get you to send the deposit money to yourself via western union (yes i know..... ) and then send a scan of the receipt to them as proof you have the funds.

all well and good until you come to withdraw the money and its already been withdrawn. Ive lost count of how many people have fallen for this.
