i think a couple of days from doing mod1..
just get some road use from doing mod 1 then go for it, thats what i did mod1 , 2hrs on 500cc bike then mod 2 .
but for me was like 2 weeks between tests as was skint as well and needed to wait for pay day..
if you beleive you can do it and know the way of the road you be ok.
luck with tests ____________________ honda cg 125 copy cheap and crap, perfect for work..

Well, I'm just in a similar situation, I've got a bike at home (400) which I can't use as I need to do the test first, booked some practice sessions, knocked the price down a bit tho, as I'm a girl and it worked , worth trying tho. Last week I had a session on 125, as after my CBT last spring, I wasn't really riding as I didn't have the 125 bike to practice on and the money to get one. 2hours later the instructor said that I'm gonna go on 500, was trusted enough, so swapped the bikes and went straight on the road eventho I never ridden one before. And apparentally it's easier to work the 500 cc bike once you get used to that a bit then just 125.
So tomorrow = session no. 2, this time straight on 500 and the instructor said that after what he saw he thinks that just one session on 500 would be enough for me to pass the test.
So ask them to get on both, you might be surprised that it might be actually easier to cope with. And, you can still at least practice at home on your 125!!!
Good luck anyway with whichever option you choose.

your MOD1 certificate lasts until your theory certificate expires, so assuming you took your theory 1month (ish) before your mod1, then your certificate will last 23 months etc.
Hope that helps.
