hey guys, been eying up the new er6s and they look pretty funky. anyone had any experience with them? what are your wise thoughts on them?

and what difference does ABS make?

er6n or er6f?

Personal opinion, the ER6-F (new model) is hideous. Was looking at one down in Thunder Road this morning and quite frankly if I was given one for free, I'd sell it. Thumbs Down

Bath and back from where? Used to do an easy 1000+ miles per week despatching, most of them on naked bikes. Never ridden the F, but have spent many hours on the N and you can ride them all day without an issue.

Tbh, I'd go with the one you like the look of the most/feels better on the test ride Thumbs Up

Unless they've changed since the 'Pups model, you'll be surprised at how upright they are!
Pretty much the same seating/handlebar position as my ER5.

Why don't you pop up one weekend for a cuppa? I'm sure Pup will let you sit on his! Mr. Green

And as for naked bikes on the motorway, It's not actually THAT bad.

I've a N and I love it, when I talked to the dealer when buying it, not many people go for the f model.

I love its looks and I like the way it rides.

I did have to add a screen though, i've also had to with other nakeds.

im gonna try and book a test ride for sometime next week or the week after but will i have problems as i've got an a2 licence?

and what difference does abs make? is it worth the extra wonga?

gonna go for the nakey i think. and accessories - do most of the 09 accessories transfer over to the 10 model as i cant find any D:

Here's my review of the ER6F from soon after I bought it in 2007 :

I've just had the same dilemma and I chose the ER-6f

Why ? For the following reasons :

i) I commute on motorway every other day : wanted the fairing
The SV650 has no fairing..

ii) Prefer a more upright seating position
The SV650S has a fairing but is less upright than the
SV650 ; if you'd like a sportier bike get the SV650S

iii) ER6f looks better (MY personal opinion !!)

iv) The ER6n/f gets good reviews !

Having done about 800miles I can say that the ER6 is great fun,
always puts a smile on me face. Have got some soft panniers
which fit easily due to the exhaust being tucked under the bike.

Only downside so far is that the seat gives me a numb arse
after an hour of riding, but if I get off and stretch the legs it's
not an issue : will look for an aftermarket seat eventually.
Took a pillion on 300mile round trip no problem..

Good luck with your decision, I'm sure either bike will be
great! If you have any more Qs about the ER6 let me know..

Finally fixed my original seat problems last year :

Have now done 15k miles, only criticism is that it is susceptible to rust*.
If you're going to ride it in the winter I recommend a coat of ACF50
or something similar to help prevent corrosion to any exposed
metal (and for winter Oxford hotgrips!)

and the sv650 is a similar price and has 0% finance too.

shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. i dont know which one to go for now. i prefer the looks of the er6 but the sv has a better top end hmmmmmmmm.

Don't take my word for it - test ride them both.

But I'd opt for a second hand example in either case.

You can change the headlight for dominator ones.

One thing I heard about the ER6n's headlight was that it was designed to look like a Japenese theatre mask.

I'd personally get the sv650s and second hand definitely. I highly doubt you'll get a test ride on the A2.

Have had an '06 ER-6f for the last year and I'm pretty happy with it and haven't really had any problems.

There were a few issues with early er-6's, including a crap paint job (thin layer of paint), issues with downpipes snapping and fairing vibration etc. but I believe most of the issues have been sorted on the '09/'10 models. And to be fair, the only issue I've really had with mine is the paint job could be better.

I personally think the newer shape isnt that nice, especially the faired version.

As for whether you'll be allowed a test ride, the easiest way is to phone up and ask.

Oh, and the standard mirrors on my er-6f suck. most of what you see is elbows. You can get extenders as an optional extra (about £40) or get some bar-end ones etc.
