Right who here likes a flutter? I want to see what people do outside of work to make money. Me, personally, I'm a bit of a gambler and have been quite successful lately, usually betting on football, tennis, snooker, darts etc on cross field accumalators.

Last month, starting with £10, i finished up with a shade over £600 and today put all but £10 into my account knowing that my luck can easily change. That £10 has just turned into £23 with villa and chelsea winning, i'm off again. Smile

Anyone bet or trade seriously and are any good at it?

I suck at this game!ussually a fiver every saturday, occasionally win on grand prix however last year was crazy only won once, and it wasn't worth mentioning.Put it on a horse while grand prix not running but again I rarely win. However,a trip to the virtual roullete machine gets me my poxy fiver back every week, only they seem to be raising eyebrows when I collect just lately, often think about just taking the roulette machine for all I can but not sure how the law stands on using systems?Any help on that matter would be greatly appreciated.

I wont go on Horses as a rule of thumb, its so dodgey, in more ways than one. I like a bit of poker now and again but usually get carried away/bored and fritter my winnings away on a ring game.

Spreadbetting. Made just over 4 grand last Monday, lost just over 3 grand on Tuesday and broke even for the rest of the week Rolling Eyes
Feb was a crap month - made bugger all. Jan was ok, came out 1.2k up. If I had a bigger pot (and bigger balls) I reckon I could earn a living doing it but as it stands it's a supplemental income.

I'm usually quite profitable on poker games with mates.

But knowing my 'luck' I'll lose out big time if I go for anything bigger. Thumbs Down

Only started gambling a month ago because of a friend.

So far I'm £140 down. Laughing It's been some good nights out though so I'm not fussed.

Most of the gambling gene in my family seems to have gone to my mum, who somehow acquired a gambling addiction - mostly to one-armed-bandit machines it appears, and so - in the space of several years, she managed to relieve herself of over a million NZ dollars - including NZ$100,000 (£30,000) of which were mine.

Kinda took the shine off having "a little tickle" for me, really Rolling Eyes

I bet via FOREX, I bet against the £ @ 2.09, and sold at 1.53 (it eventually hit 1.41).

online trading which is same as gambling really...Have put a wedgefull of cash on 2 oil companies that have started drilling down in the Falklands...
Shares are pretty volitile at the moment, bought in too high on one of them and down 20 % but if they get good results from the drilling , prices should shoot up.... if the results are bad, thats me fucked Confused

Was doing ok all last year but then gambled on Irish banks few months ago which was pretty stupid as they tanked big time..

I think if you have capital, educate & discipline yourself, you can make a living on the stock market... Obviously I'm not quite there yet Rolling Eyes

I have done casino's and fruit machines for years but its very risky especially after a few ales.

Last week joined skybet to do the Soccer6 and Darts version of it.

First time i've been with an online bookmakers , still got my free £5 bet , got a £1 bet just for signing up that i lost on a Fulham,Chelsea,Reading,Portsmouth 50-1 accumulator.

2 nights ago i got tempted into Sky Vegas, got up £20 then lost it on blackjack. Got really bad flu so about 4 hours ago got up and deposited £25 against my better judgement.

Got down to £4 left and then played Grand Casino slots 30p a spin and Won £500 after about 5 goes , totally stunned still.

Watched Louis Theroux gambling in Vegas documentary on iplayer last night , needed £450 for a car respray i found out this weekend and for this to be the top thread currently its all meshed together very nicely.

I think if you can get lots of freebies then why not , i got my £1 bet, £5 matched bet , mystery text message bonus due next week and still got a bonus of up to £150 from Sky Vegas after a month to come .

I enjoy a gamble (so did my mate who went bankrupt at 24 with 30k fruit machine debts ) but i trust myself and back my judgement so why not.

Always had a running joke with my mate that if i needed £10k for a deposit and had £5k would i put it all on Red or Black at the casino and how great/bad i'd feel considering the outcome. 'Double your money, do as you like' and all that.

This year have invested in some gold , silver and copper bullion but its just having a safe place for it, and looking into trading in gold futures but need to read more into it all first.

I've been doing lots of gambling through quidco recently. They're all cashback deals where the cashback is generally equal to or more than the required deposit.

For instance, I registered with eurogrand and deposited £30, and will get £45 cashback. I also turned that £30 into £100, and withdrew it. Win-win.

Not a fan of online gambling unless I'm guaranteed a profit, but I do like casinos. Slots and blackjack, a little roulette. Nothing that requires skill.

I have had mixed fortune with online betting and gambling.

First shot was blackjack, deposited £10, got up to £1200, tried to withdraw £1k but had to wait 3 days because of their systems baing a failure and in that time I lost the majority of it playing blackjack Laughing

Tried FOREX market betting. Did quite well but so risky unless you know what you are doing and understand all the information available.

Tried Poker, I am quite good but I always seem to end making a stupid decision and look back and think why the hell did I do that!

Tried a roulette system. £40 deposit, got to £205 and lost it all again when I got "emotionally involved".

I think that is my problem, I tell myself what I am going to do, it works then I do something really stupid and fuck it up.

I've wasted probably less than £200 in my entire life on gambling, the other week i spent £30 on the shitty online games that require no skill, won the odd £2 and thats it, i never win so i'd love to know what your secrets are to this Laughing

Online gambling is a mugs game unless you are very much in control. (I'm not and have lost a few hundred)

As per Robby, I go through Quidco and have now used every online casino going that they link to - and they always have a pattern. The first time you play you will almost always make a tidy profit. When you withdraw it, it mostly sits waiting for approval for a couple of days, during which time you can reverse the payment if you want to.

A few hours later, most gamblers start to think "that was easy", and go back to the site and deposit some more money from their bank (leaving the withdrawal alone because that's winnings), they play for a while, win a little, lose a little, win a little, then lose the lot. "Hmmm" they think "I'm not leaving without a profit"... and then at this point they reverse the withdrawal and play through all of that. A wise man would realise what had happened and leave it now. Not gamblers though, they keep going back to try and recover the loss.

Every so often I wise up and exclude myself, so I'm self banned from most online casinos now. Which is the way I like it (except when I'm drunk and bored )

That's what keeps happening to me anyway. Rolling Eyes

Interestingly, I visit a real casino about once or twice a month (Aspers in Newcastle) and haven't made a loss since January 2009. Haven't been winning thousands at a time, but I never leave until I have won at least the amount I spent on my night out, so usually at least £50 or so - and it all adds up. Very Happy

I used to do small each way bets on the Grand National when I was younger, and did okay too (but that was when I used to follow the form etc.)

Not nowadays. It does not interest me. I don't do the lottery, nor scratchcards or anything at all.

Poker keeps me on average £100 up per month. Not huge but it all helps.

I don't gamble.

I was playing poker (texas hold 'em as I recall) with some freinds, no money just chips. Well, i couldn't get my head round the hands so had the wee instruction slip from the box with the pecking order on.

I managed to lose consistently until some said it might be a good idea if I didn't run my finger down the list of hands on the bit of paper stopping at the hand I had.

As I said, I don't gamble.

Forgot to mention a few weeks ago my mate entered £1 to guess all the premiership results for the weekend with a prize of £30k between the winners, and won the lot Cool
