it uses a slightly detuned version of the sp1 engine
think it makes about 105bhp, should be good for about 155mph true speed
they are good comfortable bikes from what i hear, but not dedicated race machines, so the suspension is soft and stuff
they sound soooo good, and look the business
i wouldnt mind one meself!

The firestorm was hear a long tine before the sp1. AFAIK it is a colpetley differnt engine. When it was first release it was touted as a firebleade beater Exclamation

... which it wasn't as far as the handling goes anyway (and thus the cheaper insurance).

My riding instructer has one and according to him (he has an addiction for track days), he can keep up with the big boys pretty much all the time, looses out slightly on the straights, but a damn fine bike all round. (nice looking too)

The SP1 uses a tuned up VTR engine with fuel injection. Apparently Stan Stephens has gotten storms up to 145bhp by fiddling with the cams Shocked

And as to the recent rash of storm purchases, I'll have to blame the monkey for that... Twisted Evil

The SP1 IS a VTR1000SP-1. Practically the same bike, just tuned and faired differently. I think the firestorm looks ok but shitloads better with the bellypan or full front fairing.
