Trouble starting Daytona 675...starter motor?

Ok, bike has been unused for 2 months, and I stupidly forgot to plug it into the optimate. The battery was already fairly weak so this was a bit stupid anyway.

Previously when you try and start the 675, the dash does it light show, and you hear all the fuel pump etc priming, then you can hit the starter button. When the battery has been too dead, the starter simply doesn't try, it just makes a 'click' and resets all the priming. So, when I tried to start it, it did this, and I just assumed the battery had died.

So, I tried using some jump leads from my brothers 636, and still no luck...just clicking. Took my battery out and plugged in the 636's one, as this is a fairly new one. Still, just the 'click' and reset. Dash is operating as normal, headlights are still bright. Optimate is saying battery is weak, and its showing 12.3V.


It's not the killswitch, and it's not the sidestand switch.

I tried jumping it off the car, and still no luck.

Tried bump starting, and it sort of sounds like it wants to start, the engine is definately turning, but will normally only turn once before locking the wheel/running out of momentum. (Front brakes binding slightly is not helping the morale of my pusher).


Any ideas what's going on? I have no alarms or immobilisers fitted so its nothing to do with them!

check your spark plugs. may just be filled with crap.
