I got a Section 59 warning in January for overtaking an unmarked police car at high speed just before a change in speed limit. (30mph to 60mph)

Was out for a ride yesterday, coming out of Haddington. There are two cars in front of me. Car who is right at the front turns right just before the limit changes. Car in front of me is doing 10mph just before a 60mph limit so I drop to 2nd and overtake him, admittedly the engine was revving quite high. Sounds loud with a baffle-less dual exit race can. Got up to about 80mph when I checked my mirrors. Car behind me also overtakes him and is approaching fast. By this point I already know its a police car. Blue lights come on and he pulls me over.
Twas an unmarked BMW 5 series estate in Grey.
Charged me for a 7x5 numberplate.
For some reason my brake light wasnt working either. I checked it a few days ago.
Now I need to get it re-mot'd

So to sum up,

£105 to get my bike back.
£60 fine for number plate.
£30 fine for brake light.
£45 to re-mot
£25 for a new mirror after the old one hit the side of the van and broke. Rolling Eyes

Move to Cheshire. No police anywhere, never seen police cars on on the roads and never noticed an unmarked one.

Only time I see cops is when there is an accident, or in the middle of Crewe.

u got caught speeding end of. 10mph ... i doubt it. and hey ho you get what you deserve most of the time. i got 2x 3points on my ns125 Very Happy

but i know i use to ride like a twat and took the risk and i got caught i aint gonna cry about it

yea, i agree it is taking the piss a little.

Ive got caught speeding once... and was VERY lucky, doing silly speeds 150mph+ in a car....caught after owning the car for 2 days.
got a nice 3 points, being very very very lucky to still have a licence!

Cops seemed to understand i was "getting it out of the way" although i shouldnt have been so inconsiderate!

Maybe be slightly clued up on speed limits Razz

Yes, I understand I was technically breaking the law.

However, I do not agree that what I was doing was extremely dangerous and worth giving me a 30 minute lecture on. He kept going on about how I was going to kill myself.

It was sunny, not too cold, excellent visibility, completely straight road and not another car in sight.

He also seemed quite shocked when I said I commute on it every day including last winter. He said I was "mad" and that he wouldnt dream of having his bike out on a day like that. (it was sunny, not too cold, roads were ok.) Do I really care whether or not he would have his bike out on what I would class as a nice day?
