I didn't expect that.. I haven't checked what caused it. I'm bikeless at the moment.

- fix it and sell it?
- sell it as it is?
- fix it and ride it until next time haha?

I have very negative thoughts about my bike atm. I haven't checked the damage, I feel like I don't want to look at my bike. Hopefully my mood will be better within a week..

I expect to see f00ked cylinder and piston once I take the cylinder off.

Fix and sell it

My RS never worked properly, it would start and die (probably needed a top end) but everyone was getting angry at me for buying a broken bike so I sold it for £1000. I had bought it for £750 spend about £300 on things like MOT and the MOT faults and it was still in a state with cracked fairings and the problem mentioned above so I just sold it.

If you sell it 'broken' you will lose a lot I think. Excuse for a big bike?

It's a horrible feeling. Sounds like heat seizure to me, I'd certainly be checking the oil pump during the rebuild.

Mine did that to me 3 times over the space of 8 months. Spent £200 a time replacing the cylinder head and labour costs on top. I used to go out on it thinking where would it break down on me?

That's fucking luck though the way you coasted into a very well placed parking bit off a busy dual carriage way.

I kept telling myself, I'm going to sell it this time and I kept it each time until I sold it the day I passed my full bike test.

Fix it and sell it mate, don't keep it!

The only times I've had a 2T seize can be attributed to -

1) Leaking base gasket (didn't seize solid but melted front edge of piston, knew it was blowing but ignored it).

2) Wrong choice of oil pump and drive gears (Wrecked top end, my own mistake).

3) Incredible exploding ring peg, engine locked solid about 300 yards after leaving home (bad luck).

They don't go bang for no reason - get on top of the problem and use your brain.

You were damn lucky that parking space appeared . I've been stranded on the side of a dual carriageway before, not fun.

Personally I'd fix it up, I loved working on 2 stroke engines, I really want another .

You been maitaining it properly ? Decent oil. and always lettign it warm up before giving it shit?

They dont just sieze for no reason. What milage had it done since last piston and ring?

also with being derestricted and with a arrow pipe on it i assume you jetted the carb and did a plug chop every few hundred miles?


cant see a 2008 bike just dying for no reason tbh. my ns125 did 15k miles on one piston and ring before melting itself to no oil . but internals where still mint


saying that .... you dont wanan go revving you 2t like that 3-4 seconds after starting it. even if it was warm. having it derestricted to full power and the exhaust has kinda tuned it into a time bomb just waitign to be triggered unless you look after it .

Sounded quite harsh how long it was kept at the same revs for a while,
Isnt it your bike that has had mods done to it?
possiblity something with the jetting was making it run slightly lean, and its just got too hot and trashed itself.
Mine was more spectacular rs fail, seized going up a hill at 60 lol, couldnt deciede whether to brake, clutch or wha

I have a Rotax FR125 engine for karting, puts out about ~29bhp at the crank I think, no gears. That thing seizes for a past time.

If the cylinder/piston from the FR125 fit the 122 engine I'd give you them, got a shedload spare.

You are lucky as has been said, a sudden seizure could have thrown you off the bike, the old ICA engines were direct drive and would seize to a dead stop from 22k RPM, that shit was scary.
