Virus problem

Having some problems with a friends pc, some how he,s managed to let a virus/trojan call "windows XP security" which pops up every min runing a scan and demaining that it is upgraded to the full version for $$$ bollocks. l,ve try to use both AGV and system restore but this program is blocking them from runing even in safe mode.

Any ideas apart from a formating of the pc to fix this?

Have you tried combo fix? , that thing can fix anything and runs outside of windows so malware can't block it.

It warns you that only advanced users should use it but if you follow its instructions carefully and do not deviate from the standard run it removes anything from your machine.

If it's similar to the ones I've been dealing with recently then you cannot even open a command prompt or taskmgr. I use pstools to shut down services/tasks (malware) running on the infected 'puter via the network so that you can then install Malwarebytes etc. This only works if you have network access to the infected machine tho.

Aye, I've had that one. Malwarebytes for sure.

That said, after that I had phantom shoutings at random. Picking up ads/radio or some shit. Either way, was fucking irritating.

I had this with a friends PC at the weekend and a similar problem to the OP, I ran Spybot S&D and Adaware and it killed it off I also edited the startup and got rid of anything I wasn't familar with.

Everytime I tried one run something it said windows does not know how to open this file. I just used run as administrator even with MSconfig and it opened it straight away.
