A week a go one of my closet friends asked me for advice on something, as of yet i haven't been able to help out.
Basically this good friend of mine has been with his partner for 6 years and is now engaged, a very good friend of his sometime last year had enough of them both being so 'coupley' and got a bit arsey about it.
Now up until last year they had been very good friends since young lads, grew up together. Over time and due to a personality clash with my mates missus he became very bitter about it all, to the point abuse was thrown about.
So my mate and this lad have broken contact really, dont see each other most days like they used to...i think its unreasonable that this guy has got a bit shitty about it because of the friendship they had before. He has said some pretty nasty things but behind their back now. As much as i like the kid i'd do anything for my mate, im soon to be his best man at their wedding.

Cut to the present, so a week ago a close friend of my mate told him about something he's seen on the net. This kid i mentioned earlier is a budding music producer, he's shite at it, currently at music college learning the ropes. He's made a tune and posted it on the net called something like 'Yo ho is a walrus'. Now as much as i'd find this funny if it was someone i didn't know, it's fucking past the line IMO. Its been posted here there and everywhere and even though its complete guff as far as music goes he's got a picture of my mates missus and a walrus on there as it plays (on youtube etc).
This is a little rich coming from a ginger goth and the fact that at one point she was a pretty thick set lady but she's lost so much weight since that time (probably size 10-12 now) she does not deserve any of that bullshit.
Its a shitty thing to do, especially to a couple who have basically committed to each other and most people have no problem with it.

So my mate asked me. 'What can i do?' i means legally, if at all. Should he go that route? Can he?
I said ill look into it but i don't know where to start.
He drives a very ugly little fiesta. I thought basically i'd customise it with a baseball bat. Nothing major, just like, hey shit head, watch yourself.

So what does the BCF jury think?

I understand what you're saying but its the fact its going to be past around like a cheap joke and it has pictures on there, which are VERY offensive. If it was just words im sure id just tell him to ignore it.

Think of it like this, my mate isn't really a net user, she is definatly not.
I guess its the thought that if its on the net, its global and yes that does matter. Of course i understand it all a lot better but this is just damn nasty to someone who is good natured.
I don't think my mate has told her yet because she'd be crushed. She's worked damn hard to get trim and knows this kid has been saying things behind their backs.

To be fair I think all this talk of balaclavas and "sorting him out" is a bit silly in the face of some internet photoshoppery.

When some silly person joins BCF and opens up a can of worms, the photoshops are pretty quick to appear. We all laugh when someone threatens ste with the police (amongst other things) on here, so why is this different.

Especially when the people involved aren't net users anyway, I think you should treat it as if some internet random made it up rather than as a personal affront.

I think if you are a user of the net frequently and have posted pics of yourself online then i think the unwritten rule is...make sure you realise people can and will photoshop you. Even then, usually you are aware of it happening, it might be embaressing, funny, whatever but you had been warned.
She has no intentention of posting pics on the net, he's gone out of his way to dish that out and she doesn't know. The people who do know, say friends of friends on facebook find out...ask what the fuss is and they get his side of the story. Like i said one of my mates best friends found it and knew it was shit of him to do so.
