ride it home with a puncture Evil or Very Mad

rode back from an event today, thought the bike was feeling a bit strange into corners, like the front wanted to tuck

I had taken a few psi out of the front last week so I thought that must be it

carried on

was getting worse so I stopped and had a look (at the front) it was fine so I carried on

getting worse by now, weaving in corners and pulling its way in from the front

oh shit I thought my back tyre has gone off after all the burnouts at the last Elvington

carried on

gave it a couple of blasts up to 120 ish

carried on for 25 miles to home

parked up and looked at the rear tyre, small piece of flint the size of 2 match heads poking out, air hissing from around it

put the gauge on ... 4psi Shocked

pulled the flint out .. pfffffffft all gone

still what little chicken strips there were are now melted to chewing gum Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

new tyre time at less than 1000 miles Shocked

bugger Twisted Evil

still it could have been worse, wish I'd realised earlier Embarassed

Surely it's better to call a breakdown place than knacker your rims?

That could quite easily have been a blowout! Shocked
low pressure = more friction = tyres heat up = tyres go bang and you spend the rest of your shortend journey skiding down the road on your ass.
might be a good idea to get yourself a small tyre pressure gauge, its very much worth it, £5 from halfords little digital ones...

I have a digi tyre pressure gauge, although when I got home I cuold push the tyre in 2 inches with my thumb Laughing

It really never occurred to me that the tyre was runing flat - dopey twat that I am Embarassed and apart from one or two brief excursiosn to 3 figures it was a relatively sedate ride home - it wasn't on the rims, just soft and getting softer

like I say I checked the front which was where it felt loose

the tyre is knacked, it was running VERY HOT Shocked and I don't think I could sensibly race on a repair at 190+ Shocked

gonna get me a packet of three from www.fwr.co.uk

2 rears and 1 front for 189 squids Cool
