Seems the days are largely gone where people get a bike at 16 and then stick with it as a lifestyle choice ...
So how many BCFers were 16ers?!?! i.e. had their first road bike at 16. ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |

At 16 it has to be 50cc, but to doesn't have to be a ghey scooter!!
That is something else that has changed too ... all these 50cc scoots ... they used to be reserved for grannys and back ticklers!! ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |

Passed my car test at 18 then started Uni a few months later and quickly learnt it was neigh impossible to (legally) park anywhere near my Uni for free. That resulted in me doing my CBT and getting a cheap 4 smoker scooter (then my DTR) and been riding ever since along with the car. My brothers got scooters when they were 16 and never rode again ____________________ KTM 990 SMT & Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM |

Am 16 now, have a geared 50.
Can't wait for my 17th. To bother with a 125, or to do test and restrict a bigger bike? |

I waited until I was 17 to get a bike. Only a handful of my mates had scooters/fiddys, but I'm reasonably young still, so perhaps it's just a sign of the times. ____________________ My Flickr |

16 went from a scooter to a rs125 to a 400vfr back to scooter until i get a 600
to be honest i think a lot of it comes down to what's on offer when your that age to ride.
people are more style concerned now days
and the bikes that are the "prettiest" are not the best learner bikes nor the cheapest
same goes for scooter if you plan on starting your entrance in to the world of two wheels with one of them.
they have become uglier, slower, and more expensive,
and the market is over run with cheap Chinese copy's
i think fair amount of people get a bike when they realize that sitting in a car in traffic is boring, and insurance and tax is robbery, and parking is impossible
so a bike is the way forward ____________________ they say the good die young... i say we just live faster |

I first got on the road at 19 on a bike. So I wouldn't say I'm a sixteener but it's definitely now a life style choice, the only thing I've ever had a lesson in and the only thing I would consider being on, on the road now. Therefore I shall just vote yes seeming as that's never going to change and I'm probably still incredibly imature ____________________ will never give up his CG. G: With my GSXR I do often effectively use it as a scooter with a clutch in town.
