Pretty much the same as yours, when I do a "job" I get in at about half 9 in the morning and my golden labrador Bailey is always there waiting for me. He's always excited to see me and jumps up for a hug and a kiss which can be quite awkward considering he is 6 stone.

I gave it thought for a minute or so. I remembered how many times I smiled in the day and it reminded me how much of it is completely false, applied to a situation because in the social skills sense of the word it was the right thing to do.

Depressing though when you haven't genuinely smiled for yourself in the day.

The welcome from the dog is probably the probably the most genuine "pleased to see you" reaction you recieve in the day. Never gets old for them and I love that.

I love my dog and can honustly say I know for a fact that he loves me back you can see it in his eyes and it's that kind of thing that makes me smile every day.


Smeg mate I've always had dogs and I couldn't imagine not having a dog it's like having a constant companion that won't give you shit. I have snakes and rabbits and stuff but it's the dog that I love the most. When the gf gets out of bed in the morning for uni the dog creeps in and cuddles up. Mate you need a dog lol.

One of the few things that gives me a genuine smile (and maniac laughter) is riding my little RXS about.

There is something so fun about ragging the poor thing silly and hustling round corners at silly speeds (in the context of the machine) that makes me so happy.

@Carl, yeah I know I need a dog. Wouldn't want to get one though until I could do it justice though. Not so much the money side of things but I wouldn't want to leave him/her alone for long periods and have them get all lonely.

I only work 2 days a week so I spend a lot of my time with my dog I think he would become depressed if I started working any more lol. Its good that your waiting because it is a responsibility it's like having a kid. Bailey is quite clever if he needs a wee he goes into the bathroom and barks, if he wants water or food he slides the bowls about telling us he is hungry.

Not much makes me smile because I lack a common path to the smile muscles. Only thing that I think does very occasionally is if I'm having a reasonable day at work, sun is out and i'm driving through a really tiny village in the truck, the sort of place I really shouldn't be and can see the trailer bending round the corners in the mirrors and missing everything with perfect precision and forcing everyone to stop and make way...ahhh the power then 5 minutes later I realise I like about 25 seconds a week of my job (5 a day).

Otherwise I would say it's seeing a really nice looking girl and getting a smile, unfortunately my smile usually makes it's appearance some time after the initial event

For me i must say when i go to my mum and dads house to visit them and open the door, i smile when i see a pair of little shoes in the hallway because i know either my niece or nephew is the there. Next thing i know they run out shouting "Uncle mike!..Uncle Mike!"
