Went to 20/20 Motorcycles in Chester-le-Street last night to have a look at a Kawasaki ZX6R for £2995. I think it's the B1H model, on an 03 plate with 17k on the clock. It has and ART can fitted and it's getting a full service, had the CCT done and it's getting a new chain and sprockets fitted before I pick it up...well, provided the finance agreement goes through (I do have a spotless credit record).

I am so excited, it's my first big bike (proper big bike, I don't really count the VFR400 as a big bike). It's immaculate and...it's green, the only true colour for a Kawasaki IMO.

I couldn't help myself but tell everyone because I'm so excited. It's my dream bike. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

They are badass mate, good buy at that price too.

My brother had a B1, sounded mint and went like a spanked cat!

Thats a good price for a dealer. I paid £3600 for mine on a 04 plate.

It did have 7k miles though with Akra can, braided hoses all round, seat cowl, tinted screen, power commander, tail tidy and fsh.

This is over 2 years ago now Sad

Sold it for £3100 with 11k miles on it privately to a guy who shipped it abroad this time last year.

Fantastic bikes though, good choice!

Clicky

Compared to most of the ones in my area on Pistonheads, it's fairly cheap. For a one just like mine on Pistonheads with lower mileage you're looking and £4.5k-£5k. There also aren't all that many for sale round here, they get snapped up pretty quick if they're good value for money.

I just hope everything is sorted and I get it Saturday afternoon so I can have Sunday to play with it. Very Happy Very Happy

You sure it's the same model ? No way is a B1 worth anything near that. IIRC the valves need checking at around that mileage too.

Yep, I check bike sites every other day, always browsing, especially ninjas / r1s and them prices are about right, I remember seeing some cheap B1H for that price.

I've noticed all the older R1s are getting snapped up now as well. Looks like everyones started buying bikes for the summer now.

Here is a similar mileage ZX6RR (a B2H?). That's the only one on Pistonheads within 50 miles of my post code. That's a private seller too so prices should be lower than a dealer.

I still say I got a decent deal because of all the work being done on it before I pick it up and its a reputable dealer I'm buying from.

@ lee8040 I tried but they had another seller lined up (or so they said). Anyway I did manage to get them to do the chain and sprockets for the price which originally they were going do at cost price, which even though isn't much it's still something.

Oh no, I understand that but what I was meaning is that they're fairly rare to find up for sale round where I live.

Certainly seem to for most bikes. Only ones I keep any kind of an eye on are Bimota prices, and the prices of something like an SB6R have gone up a fair bit. Used to be common around £4k but now seem to go for about £6k.

All the best

Keith

The 636 engined bikes were B1H 03 and B2H 04, only difference between the years was the colours and stickers. The RR bike was a K1H, silver frame on the 03 iirc and black on the 04.

New motorcycles prices have gone up a decent chunk - in two years the KTM I got new now costs £1200 (20%!) more than when I got it - which has made me feel a bit better about buying new then!

Obviously this is going to have a general knock-on effect on second hand prices to.

Oh and quite a few years ago now Danny got a low mileage B1H with extra for £3700 I think, to me £3k would seem a bit expensive based on that.

Maybe, except that if used prices have gone up by 20% as well and some seem to have gone up far more), then that £3k is equivalent to £2500 when Danny bought his.

All the best

Don't think thats a RR as it doesn't have a adjustable swingarm... maybe the guy powder-coated it ... see attached of an RR swingarm of mine when it was all new and shiney Razz

Anyway, welcome to the B club... mental looking bike Thumbs Up

They're a good bunch at 20/20, I get my bike serviced there Thumbs Up

Prices are cheaper than anywhere up Westagate Road for servicing costs and the lad who does the servicing is really good at making sure the bike leaves in the best condition possible, he has a very good reputation AFAIK Thumbs Up

Relatively a considerably older bike now, however.

Hi

Yep, but equivalent to a third less than what Danny paid (not sure if Danny bought his from a dealer though).

All the best

I noticed this as well but I'am actually looking to move up to a 1000, so it's all good. I will probably get a 2000 - 2002 R1 in the next few month if they're still around that price.

That's a nice example but faulty 2nd gear, you looking at a new gearbox or can it be fixed? How much would it cost to sort it?
