I think that space is my main issue at the moment - can't get it into the back garden (terraced basement flat), and no space in my garage.
Was just musing on whether I could make a quick profit on it, not interested in keeping the bike for myself - mate knows full well that's the only reason I'd have it off him by the way, he just wants to wash his hands of it.
Could risk sticking it chained up in the bike bay up the road I suppose, and if it goes then so be it. Bit loathe to break it, as though I suspect I'll at least make my money back very quickly on the wheels and suspension, I'll then be left with a pile of bits.
As I'm not very good mechanically, the easiest fix for me would be to find a second hand engine, transplant it and then sell - but struggling to find a second hand one...
I suppose this could be the perfect opportunity to work out how to rebuild an engine myself - but using new parts that'll cost, what? £300+ ?
And I could sell the bike for a bit under a grand maybe?

This is easy ....
1. See if you can find another lump NOW (I don't know how often working lumps come up for that bike)
2. Presuming 1 - see if it is at a price that makes it economical to do the transplant.
If both 1 and 2 'check' ... then do it ... if not, then it is probably just going to end up £200 of bike sitting there rotting away ...
Finally, I bet you can get >£200 flogging it as-is on eBay!!
Clearly you then need to factor in fees which will kill all profit if you only get say £250 for it ... ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |

SEP near me are great for repairing knackered heads / cam bearings etc and could even do my Goose if needed (has DR350 engine). I'd definately reccomend them and had all my DT125R crank / cylinder etc done by them
