Hi

As you know i passed my bike test last week, i'm getting really confused in working out how much i need to pay to add it to my license.

I've had a full car license since november 2001.

Can someone help me, i've looked at the DVLA web site and got even more confused.

Also which post code do i send it off to?

Many Thanks

you need to upgrade a licence, the fee is £9. this applys when upgrading from a provisional to a full licence or for adding a test pass. you should have recieved the neccicary paperwork with your pass certificate. Upgraing normally takes just over a week.

Add entitlement to a full licence = FREE

See here >> https://www.dvla.gov.uk/drivers/applydl.htm#cost << under the heading 'Exchange'.

*If your first ordinary driving licence commenced before 1 March 2004 and you are now claiming your first test pass, you will have to pay £9.00.

Davo

I too was very confused about how to fill the form in. I called the help-line number and (to a point) they talked me through it.

However, I still wasn't 100% sure, so I opted to have it checked at the local post office. The cost was £4, I didn't have to que as they had a separate counter for form checking and I got my shiny new licence back within 2 weeks. They send the form off for you (within the £4 cost) in a special DVLA bag so you don't need to worry about the post-code!

Oh and if you do it this way, you don't have to submit any proof of I.D. - like a passport or the like, so long as you take it to the Post Office with you.

Simple and well worth the four quid!
