Cagiva Mito Power Valves

Hi, I own a 1993 Cagiva Mito 125,
and recently the power valves have been weird, one month ago I got the valves cleaned to get all of the carbon off them, and now they feel as though they are blocking, at 7,000 rpm it losses power and wont go into powerband easily then it gets to 8000 and powerband kicks in suddenly and its fine, feels as thought the valves are not free,
any ideas on how to fix this, any tips on how to clean the valves I have never done it but want to learn.

It just sounds like a normal flat spot in the revs to me, probably normal and just there because of emissions laws!

Is the power valve cables adjusted properly.

Hi

The Mito power valves have an adjustment to adjust the gap between the valve in the closed position and the piston. Get this wrong and the valve can touch the piston when things get hot, and taking the valves out to clean them then reassembling the whole lot will affect this gap (especially if you reuse the gasket).

However check the power valve adjustment cables before you do any more.

Check the aligment of the pully wheel marks and the marks on the housing.

The pully wheel has two marks on it and one should be aligned with the mark on the housing when the revs are below 7250 and then the wheel should turn at above 7250 and the other mark should align with the mark on the housing.

The pully wheel is under a rubber flap marked "CTS" on the right hand side of the cylinder. The operation of it can be checked by turning the ignition on and off.

during the weekend I checked over the power valve cables etc and they seem to be working okay, and when I turn the key it lines up with both arrows no problem, I found that my spark plug was not getting a powerful spark fixed it and still no change, I have found the problem is a little better when I use some choke but still no good, I was wondering if I was losing compression as it is not idling so well now either, but wouldn't it be crap power all the way through the revs then, it changes but is normally only bad for a space of 600rpm range between 6000 and 7500 otherwise bike appears to be driving fine,
any other ideas?

the problem is caused by the piston i have just had a £400 bill from the garage as the piston tore up the barrel you need to get the piston replaced like u should on all 2 stroke bikes
