Tyre pressure or rider with an over active imagination.

Not sure if I am missing something, but your problem is that the bike literally wont go around a corner?

How the hell does that work?

Please stop riding a motorbike before you kill someone, leave it to people who can ride round corners without coming off.

Have you had a look at your front forks?

I would check your fork seals and also try bouncing your suspension to see if you can feel anything odd.

Is there anything that has broken off and could have got caught in the suspension's travel? (this happened to someone else off here with a horn).

Were you braking mid corner? This will obviously shift weight to the front.

Either that or there's something wrong with your bike that is shifting weight forward such as your brakes, but I thought that would be quite obvious.

Hyosung front forks, by default setup has the wrong amount of fork oil in them.

Try setting them up, the rear shocks also have a habit of going...
Welcome to a cheap bike.

I had all sorts of problems on my GT, which shared the same rear suspension.

But get the forks reconditioned, and the rear shock checked and set up.

When you say dropped. Do you mean
Drop into the corner... As it normally would when cornering
Or
It just dropped down, As in went straight down. Like the yokes had come undone.....

If its backing into every corner, you are either braking too hard on the front too late. Or you are too heavy on the rear, But it could be there is something wrong with the rear end.
Check ALL the bearing's from the front wheel to the rear wheel via the headstock. Then check that ALL bolts are tight.

Then take a long hard look at yourself and you riding.

It could be extraordinarily fucked head bearings, but any moron with half an ounce of sense would notice that...

...Hmm.

Even if the forks slipped/dropped down I can't see how it would stop you from turning.

The only thing that would stop turning is say the stering lock jamming on or there being a problem with the bearings with one getting to a certain point and jaming up.
Or could be your keys getting stuck and refusing to allow any movement of the bars.....

Don't think that if the swinging arm bearing were so shot that, they could counter any stering effect even by stepping out.

Only thing you can do is....
Take front end fully to bits and check everything. Then check the rear end.

Why don't you just wheelie around every corner? saves the front fucking up.

Something definitely isn't making sense here.

When fork seals go, or fresh oil is needed, or springs/dampening knackered - things tend to get a bit bouncy - but bikes still corner, albeit in a pogo like affair.

Headraces will give a knotchy feel to the steering and can lead to understeer - but you'd feel this all the time and is easy to check with the bike stationary.

Are the tyre pressures okay?

Other than that, the only thing that has caused marginally similar symptoms in my experience is a lack of confidence on my/the rider's part. After a nasty shimmy or slide - especially how frequently they can occur over winter, it's sometimes difficult to notice that it was me who was 'locking up' and understeering - lacking commitment to a corner - by either not looking through a corner enough, riding with locked elbows, or just a little wary of counter steering the bike over, etc.

Easy to sort that when you notice that the rider is the problem, not the bike.

By all means, thoroughly check the bike over. But also, check your own riding - perhaps by riding a set route and getting comfortable that the bike is performing as it should, and you are comfortable on exploiting that performance. Doesn't need to be at speed either - a run around town is sometimes all that's needed for me to warm to a bike again.

As far as I recall, suspension setup doesn't change by itself. And as suspension wears, knackered bearings aside, things tend to get looser/bouncier, rather than tighter/stiffer. Bouncy suspension would make the bike flop into corners - not really an understeer/running wide symptom, unless the rider's not liking what's going on and fighting it.

A similar trend occurs (with me anyway), on worn tyres. A 'step' occurs between the flattened centre of the tyre and the not so flattened edges. A little disconcerting sometimes as the bike suddenly steers a lot faster than it normally would as the tyre rolls over this 'step'. Again, something not attributed to understeering unless the rider intervenes and forces the bike up again.

If it was set up it would be all the time.....

All low oil or knackered oil would do is make suspension bouncy... It does not stop you from going round a corner.

Only 3 things would make you go straight on.

Steering locks.
Slippery surface.
Rider error.

But if its been doing it since 2008 Embarassed Then it can't be a serious bike issue. As you would have been round more than enough corners for it to show up over and over again. Or you need to take a long hard look and wonder why you have not sorted it before......

I rode my GS for a week or two with shockingly unsafe head race bearings which certainly gave me a few scares on tight little turns. Can't say I ever had the bike go straight on and park itself on anyones lawn whilst leant over though. Are you sure Donkey Kong didn't drop a banana peel in front of you? Thinking
