Specialist in two stroke tuning, Has anyone here ever dealt with him before?
Just called him up, and he can guarantee me at least a 25% increase in power not just in the top end on my little RXS for £150 quid and seeing as I plan on riding this bike for a while till I pass my test, and it's worth so little, I may as well have some fun on it =P
Is this guy as good as he says he is?

He stage 3 tuned my TZR125RRR for the previous owner to me.

35 RW HP out of a 125 is fucking awesome Smile

Shame I made it eat pistons too often, though.

If you've got some more money to throw down the drain, how about the 'fix gees bikes so they all work at once' foundation? ... actually, though, that'd be a more sensible use of money as you'd actually achieve something useful, I'd even let you borrow some on occasion Smile.

Anyway, I believe there's some question as to the quality of the work as it's very unlikely you'll actually get Stan Stevens working on your bike himself. So it's a question of whether the work will match up to the reputation.

As you may guess, and from what I've said before, my opinion is it'd be a massive waste of time/money, when there's so many bikes that I believe you would likely be more happy with as standard with more power.

I know this bike wont sell for anything, so I may as well keep it, And if I'm going to keep it, I may as well do what I've always wanted to do.
Throw cash at a bike pointlessly and see what it does =P

What's actually up with your bikes?
Once I get paid... I "May" be able to help... Even if it's only in small amounts!

From what I understand, Stan Stephens business has constricted considerably from the heady 2 stroke days of the 80's and 90's thanks to emission laws and so you may well find that Stan does a lot more hands on work these days.

He certainly was a god in my day, I would have no qualms in shipping an engine over to him.

They are all broken. Some of which have missing bits in the engines and gearboxes.

This is the natural state of any motorvehicle with "Dave 'G'" on the V5.

Don’t worry, I’ll continue to slowly break bikes as I fix others!

Currently the GSXR just needs fork seals putting on and an MOT (new tyres on wheels in my car as we speak).
The KTM 690 needs a welded exhaust, an official service Sad and some warranty work. Oh and some non-studded tyres putting on!
The CCM 404 needs a new crank or new engine as well as a few other bits and pieces.
The KTM 200 needs a new exhaust, throttle, guards and I’d like a heavier flywheel as well as a few other mods.
CRM 125 needs an MOT – probably a few bits doing, but just got to get around to taking it there!
675 should be ok apart from tyres.
The zx9 and FX need breaking and parts selling.
Think that’s the lot, though got stuff to do on the Car and Van as well.

So not really much I can help with there... lol

Looks like I will ship my engine off to him! I wonder what it will be like afterwards.... Hmmm..... =)

Combine that with an Allspeed pipe and some decent reeds and I think I'll be doing 80mph... =D
Going to need sprockets to suit though...

I need to get my Valve out of the garage for a few short runs. Its still running in after being 'Stanned'. I've only got about 30 miles on the clocks and need to get about 200 before I can give it the full beans.

Stan Stevens is one of the best, if not the best 2 stroke tuner in this country.

£150 isn't bad for his services either. But tbh I'd save the money for a bigger bike.

sorry to hijack this thread but does anyone know what the differences are between stage 1-3 and what exactly he does? Oh and I read an interview with Stan Stephens and he says he does not have anyone working for him anymore, just him and his missus and he says hes never been so busy he used to employ 11 guys so I read.

Stage 1 is a mild tune, stage 3 is a heavy tune. Its pretty much down to how much you want to spend and how much more power you want.

He is not called Stan Seizums for nothing.
All my 2 strokes came back shockingly fast and shockingly unreliable Smile
Stage 3 - Get RAC/AA
Stage 2 - Get used to changing rings and pistons regularly.
Stage 1 - Not worth doing.

In my eyes, when you shake cocks with the devil, you may as well go for the full reach around ... go stage 3 Thumbs Up

I would like to add that I no longer have any connection with or wish to ride a 2 stroke bike.

It'll end in tears, trust me Wink

An RXS is a commuter bike. Making it go faster on marginal brakes is a bad idea. The big end and gearbox won't cope well with a substantial power increase...

...But 25% is pretty paltry for £150. I reckon I could up the power from 12 to 20hp myself, for more or less nothing. If you're going to destroy your engine, you may as well do it for nowt Laughing

I doubt there is anyone anywhere who has covered more mileage on RXS100s than me. Tuning them is a bad bad bad idea. Bad. Trust me Shocked

But.... But ....
But it HAS to be done!!!! Sad It just has to...
And I'm sure everyone else is curious as to the results, just as they would by a race tuned high compression honda CG running on Nitro-meth!

even ive heard of stan stevens , and im from new zealand, his reputation has reached right around the world, and that was even before the internet,
i would do it, its only 150 quid, people spend that on crack in a week, this would be far more useful use of the dosh

At least he'd have got a fun experience that you can't really get any other way with the crack Smile.

Oh and a while ago some mag did make a highly tuned CG. It was horrible to ride and blew up after a lap at the kart circuit (or where ever they were at) if I remember.

If you want a light weight powerful bike, as I may have said before - get a CR85 or similar, stick some 17" wheels on it, get it road registered - think I've seen figures of up to 25hp claimed (that may have been from further tuned ones) - they come in at under 65kg and have decent suspension and good brakes (get a bigger disc with the road front).
(Or you could buy a pre-modded one used for small SM racing - doing this you should hopefully actually manage to create something *better* than what's out there in some ways, while with the RXS I don't think you'll have really improved anything you couldn't buy better already.
