Frosty ... guess that tattooing BCF would be a step too far!!

First time I now realised that I wasn't very confident and failed on most thing ... road positioning first of all ... but rear observation too far back so that the bike wobbled, life savers too late and general lack of bike control!

Also hesitation at roundabouts ... and still a bit hesitant!

Thanks to all of you for your words of encouragment!!

best thing to do about round abouts is get used to thrashing your bike up through the gears at junctions. once you know you can get going sharpish then you know the bike will fit into those small gaps at roundabouts.

I should imagine road position can be a bit of a sod, i often ride slightly to the left which is a habbit i need to get out of :S

Same here about the road positioning ... at times I tend to be too much at the left when I think i'm in the middle!

Will need to concentrate really hard tomorrow!!!

Weather forecasts at the moment ... apparently sunny with winds not to strong Very Happy Very Happy let's hope so ... in the meantime I keep my finger crossed and praying!

Oh no! That's shocking. Can you book it through a riding school, they usually have block bookings and have cancellations all the time? Failing that (sorry bad choice of words), don't the test centre take your name if you're interested in taking a cancelled place?

Hoped they would ... never booked direct with the test centre, always via the website.

I ahev contact the DSA by phone on a national number and they said to call everyday to check for cancelaltions. It would be much easier if I could contact hte test centre directly!

I am doing it thru' a school but we book the test directly.

In a situation where there is an obstruction on the other side of the road you maintain your road position forcing the driver of an oncomming car to treat you like a car rather than a bike.

Basically if you move over to the left it tempts them to go for the gap forcing you tot he side of the road.

The only reason i can think that you failed was because a car went for the gap and you gave the car little or no space. Basically you have to hog the road to put cars off, but if they go for it you have to give them and yourself as much space as possible.

Frosty ... exactly what I though!!!

However when the examiner gave me feedback he said that one various occasions I have forced the oncoming vehicles to brake whilst I should have moved to the left because as a bike I only take little space on the road and it is frustrating for the other users to be held up for no reason!

The roads in questions are not very large and about half of the car has to move onto the other lane to pass the parked vehicles.

He gave me 3 minors making it a major for that reason and a few others for progess and steering ... but noway near to 15 and he said that was the only reason for failing me!

I should really stop worrying and getting wind up about it now and relax the rest of the summer ... without a bike ... waiting for autumn to retake the test!!!

Inglesina, sorry to hear about the fail... it does sound like the examiner was a bit picky.

I notice the waiting list at the Brighton test centre is two weeks, if you don't want to wait.
