My daughter has just passed her test. She has been riding a DNA50 Sick

for a year, then an SR125 and now she wants something better (obviously)

I wanted to get her a 250 but she wants something a bit more sporty and as its her money I am an advisor, not the buyer so I have no veto.

She is a very good rider, has had her learning curve of falling off etc. & she is a stunt rider with the Devils Horsemen equestrian riders so has superb balance.

So what sports bikes take to the 33 hp without being pigs to ride. I really have no idea what the restrictors do to a bike in terms of ridability. obviously top end is reduced but acceleration is still reasonable i presume.

Is a SV650 better than a gixxer 600 for restricting.

Any constructive critisms welcomed

I loved my Speed Four as a first bike big, I had it restricted and it was fine. Also the restricter only costs £60 direct from triumph including fitting.

I'd say the major positive for the restricted SV over a GSXR is it has lower gearing as standard.

The GSXR obviously should have more competent suspension and chassis (though the former can be moderately cheaply worked out.)
Get a more noticeable difference when derestricted. I've never really like the stock SV riding positions.

Probably worth giving an idea of the money she's got to spend.

G, she has an absolute max of £1600 quid for the bike including restriction.

Chris, I like the speed triumphs, but they aren't sportd bikes so not on the shopping list. Confused

How old is she? If still fairly young, I think some insurance quotes are worth while - the SV may well be a good choice over all on that if she wants 'sporty looks' and general affordability on that budget.
I'd say a G/J model ZX6 is definitely worth considering too.

Don't know if they'd fit the FI models though.
