I've seen some RST textiles I quite like but before I get them I just wondered what people thought about the quality of the RST gear? I will probably only wear it when touring 2-3 times a year so don't really want to spend a great deal.

Not bad, my jacket is pretty much waterproof after 1.5 years, the rift pants leaked around my goolies after 8 months so i painted thompsons water seal on them around the crotch area, now they are waterproof again it just had a milky white stain till it dried properly Shocked , stitching on velcro belt came undone as did the stitching on the liner inside, but i sewed them back up and reinforced with that heavy silver tape, sorted.

Got an rst summer jacket with a liner three years ago. The zip went last year but got that fixed and it I don't see why it won't go for another three.

Had an RST textile jacket until recently, and was very comfortable and water resistant (rather than water proof).
For the money it was great in everything except the most torrential rain.

RST Rift jacket. Bought in January. Water resistant despite being marketed as water-proof (leaks through at the left abdomen area after a substantial downpour). The tag-like things that hold the removable liners in place have come off at one end too so when i put my arm through the jacket i end up pulling liner with me and have to pull it back down into the sleeve. Will be taking it back soon so they can send it away as it's not that good. Paid £90 and got a £15 back insert put in. It's also a tiny bit too short for my liking and rides up enough that i occassionally feel the need to uselessly tug at it.

That sounds quite negative, but it is overall OK if i can get a properly waterproof version!

RST Vortex 2 boots. Pretty poor quality, first pair had funny out-of-alignment zips that eventually broke after 6 months and boots were replaced under warranty. I find that if you make even a few steps in them the velcro loosens off and then the fit feels loose enough to reduce ankle protection in a crash (and it is actually quite hard to tighten to a satisfactory standard in the first place!) - it doesn't feel like it's going to do much for my ankle like this. Crash-tested at 10-15mph and i sprained an ankle under the bike and i blame the poor protection offered by the boots (still, i reckon it helped some so i continue to use them). Also unimpressed that less than 6 months with this replacement pair the velcro is starting to come loose as the stiching is beginning to disintegrate/come out. Not convinced by the waterproofing in either pair, and feel it's water-resistant again.

Looking forward to buying some Alt Bergs as i've heard they'll be much much better.

So unfortunately i haven't been all that satisfied with my RST stuff. I have a feeling their leathers may be better though, although i can't remember exactly why i think that.

RST Paragon textile jacket. Nice design, rubbish build quality.
Stitching coming apart all over the place, with minimal use.
For a similar price I found Akito textiles are much nicer (though still "budget" of course).

I can also vouch for the RST Rift Stuff.

Had (and still use) my textiles ever since the first day I started motorcycling. Even although they were second hand when I got them, they age really, really well.

The zip has burst on the trousers but apart from that they are top notch.

Still water-proof throughout - only had rain on the inside of them twice and that was many hours in the pissing monsoon weather we had up here last year.

It is also fairly cheap too (compared with some other textile suits you can get).

Value for money... Thumbs Up

Have had my RST gear (Jacket, pants and lid) for 10 months and 7K, they're still like new Laughing Have ridden in reasonably heavy rain during that time and have been kept dry. I also had the problem with the pants leaking around my goolies, though suprisingly it does it when its been raining (ie. Water on the tank) As opposed to when its chucking it down when it doesn't seem to leak at all Thinking .

Cant remember how much i got it all for but i'd definately recommend it.

Rob Thumbs Up

+10 for rating RST stuff really highly, for the money it looks great, haven't really had an off worthy of testing it out but the gloves feel fine and the leather jacket is really comfortable and feels 'quality'. The only gripe I have is of the lid, feels a bit too budget. Though, you shouldn't really skimp on a lid as it is.

I have an RST textile jacket that I paid £45 for from Mandp, it's slightly too big for me, I should of sent it back but it's not a problem. Loads of pockets, fully waterproof and you can get away with wearing a tshirt under it, even on freezing days and still be warm.

I also have the RST Rift two piece leathers, I don't know why but they used small zips to connect the pants to the top, which are really flimsy and ripped away from the jacket after a few months. If they had used those big chunky zips, they would be superb. Think I paid £300 for the set last summer.
