I once did that to the wheels of a bike, gave myself a lot of work keeping them looking good.

May be worth finding a metal wax, belgom alu is sposed to be good after youve polished them up to keep the shine for longer.

You just glue your wheel weights back on after?

i applied the nitromors with a paint brush on the area i wanted to strip.
left it for 10mins then rubbed it off with a ( stainless scourer as it doesn't scratch the ally) Thumbs Up
had to reapply on some stubborn bits though.

the paint is very thin and comes off quite easy.
then it was a case off a good rub with solvol and a rag and 5mins per side it was done.

as with most things a little care is needed and if you deflate the tyre you can minimize the contact with the tyre but i had no probs.

the disc's are stealth and cost around £185 delivered they seem fine especially with the top end ferodo pads and nissin 6pots and brembo master:up:


as for wheel weights i use dynabeads which go inside the tyre and balances the wheel perfectly so no unsightly lumps of lead Thumbs Up


i may apply some ally protection but ill see how they go and how much attention is needed to keep them nice.

think the swinger will get the treatment next and ill make it match the black frame as it looks wrong in silver.


the mirrors are to help with stability at 200mph lol
they are rather large and ive been looking for replacements but some ive seen look far worse on the 12

Laughing Laughing I Think you'll find they're 160 at the rear wheel mate. Give or take a few bhp. And weighs 210kg.

as rear wheel hp goes that will do nicely then Thumbs Up

ill add 5hp to that 160 as you have found the lowest quoted figure.
around 165 is often quoted as standard then add 15% for transmission loss etc that takes it to 185ish then a pc ignition advancer + pipe bmc's and some other little bits and bobs and i must be about right then.

kawasaki claimed 188 at the crank for the a1 but the who cares really.

ps this thread was about polished wheels but if you would like to see what bhp a 12r can put out try zx12 forum and you will see some big figures.

as for 210kg the 12r has a strong frame Thumbs Up

i dont need to have a dig at you there all weaker than they used to be to get them lighter weather its a k5 or a k9.
