So a taxi drove into the back of me and my bike was a Cat C write off, what now?

Insurance said bike was worth 1750 before it got wrote off now it's worth 175 so they gave me 1575 in cash and my bike back

What now?

I know I have to get it checked for illegal parts, then what? MOT? Re-insure? I don't know where to go from here :l

Vic check is only for cars.
Fix it, mot it and re insure it, ride it.

Lol, that's convenient.

Do I have to MOT it even though it's barely 4 month old? I'll need new forks if so :/

And can you fail an MOT on bent shit? Like bent foot rests and clutch lever?

You don't need to re-MOT it (or MOT it if only 4 months old) ... fix it up and get it back on the road.

Make sure you have pics of bike once sorted so you can prove to an insurer it had been fixed, that way they need to pay out proper money for it if damaged again Thumbs Up

Just fix it up and ride it.

I had the exact same thing on my ZXR, repaired the bike and rode it for over a year afterwards, didn't have to do a thing.

Thumbs Up

You didn't MOT it?

Is it legal to ride a bike that's been wrote off and put back on the road without being MOT'd?

F8ck the MOT then

Nope.

Rang my insurers (ebike) and asked them if I would still be covered, which I was, so I just carried it on riding it, never got any hassle from old bill either.

Thumbs Up

Category A: Scrap only - this vehicle should have been crushed. It should never reappear on the road and there are no economically salvageable parts. It is of value only for scrap metal - e.g. a totally burnt-out vehicle.

Category B: The bodyshell should have been crushed. The vehicle should never reappear on the road, but it can be broken for spare parts plus any residual scrap metal.

Category C: Vehicle extensively damaged and insurer has decided not to repair. The vehicle should have an independent inspection before being allowed back onto the road.

Category D: Vehicle damaged and insurer has decided not to repair.

Category F: Vehicle damaged by fire and insurer has decided not to repair.

Not sure if the wording SHOULD for the vehicle inspection means MUST though.
