Been out looking for a new lid today, As my current one fits badly and is falling apart!

Been around a couple of shops and have decided between 2 helmets.

Both helmets feel comfortable and fit very well. Just cant decide which one. Sadily buying both is not an option Sad

The first is a Shark S900 glow

https://daytona2000sl.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/shark2009ete4.jpg

The second is a HJC IS-16 Scratch

https://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/ProductImages/300/2009_HJC_IS-16_Scratch_Helmet.jpg

Both have intergrated tinted visors.

Just wandering if anyone had any experience in what the helmets are like (eg quality etc)

At the moment i'm swaying towards the shark, But i'm not too sure about the buckle on it.

Any help will be appreciated Smile

Shark IMO

The HJC I had didn't stand up in terms of build quality - the Sharks get good reviews Smile

Thats what is putting me off with the HJC. The mechinism feels flimsy on the integral visor, Where as on the shark it feels nice and tight.

To be honest, The only thing that is swaying me towards theHJC is the Double D fastening on the strap, Where as the shark has a new style of buckle.

I have a shark lid and have to say I find it real quite and comfy, prefer it to my caberg or box lid.

Only thing i dont like about the sharks fastening is you have to adjust it nearly everytime you go out, Where as the double d on the HJC fits perfect every time.

Have already got a BOX lid at the moment, After 12 months the inner liner is hanging out, It whistles when you are riding and the wind noise is shocking on it!

I have an S900, brilliant lid, very comfy, easy to clean, very little wind noise. Vents hold upto pretty much all but uncomfortable coldness.

Tried an S800 and an S900 on at the bike show but settled on my Shoei XR1000 just because the two Shark lids came up very close to my chin - I'm no Jimmy Hill or anything, so I wondered how other people get on ?!

I have just bought a HJC IS-16 for £70 in white.
if you want that paint style it will cost you more but if your not a fashion queen you get the same helmet for your money.

I have 2 x FG15 HJCs, My wife has an HJC infinity and my daughter has some sort of shark which has dissapeared Crying or Very sad

I can only presume the shark is more appealing to the resident borrowers in my house.

HJC's are fine helmets IMO. Sharks have a better visor system but if you are buying one with an integrated visor, that isn't going to matter.

I've had both a Shark and an HJC.

The Shark was an S650. The quick-fasten strap was convenient but annoying to adjust, and hard to remove with gloves on. The breath guard didn't do much good, and the vent on the forehead would was one big piece that would happily pop between open and closed without needing encouragement.

My HJC is a CL-ST. The D fasteners on the strap take a bit of getting used to but you get used to it quickly and it's always a snug fit! There's a strange piece of cloth under the chin to stop wind blowing up and under. The visor movement isn't as smooth as the Shark - just popping it up a crack isn't easy. The removable breath guard is great, as it helps prevent misting in winter but in summer you just take it out and get more breeze on your face.

Overall I think I prefer the HJC. The strap thing ceases to be an issue very soon. Note neither of my helmets had a built-in sunvisor, though both happily accomodate my sunglasses.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, the missus also has an HJC, a very low-end model but it does her fine.

Its not too bad, if i push my chin out i can touch the front, but in standard chin position, its absolutely fine.
