I want to get one for the wifes birthday. The 8 gb is obviously cheaper but I'm guess the 32gb would be better? Any suggests on where I can get the best deal? Dixons seem the cheapest at the moment.

Cheers. I would prefer to buy it from somewhere that I can use a credit card, just in case.

Keep an eye on the refurbished part of the apple store. I got 32gb 2G touch for 182 squid a few weeks ago. There is none in stock at the moment though but I'm sure they will be back in at some point.

Hi i've got an 8gb one that I picked up at Manchester Airport Dixons, for £115. You don't pay tax so you make a saving!

I'm not too fussed about the higher capacity models, I only use it for web surfing and apps.

To be honest I don't rate it for music anyway, its far too large and the interface not to good, I use my Nano for music.

Just to drag it back up. Went out to get one today and I've confused myself Embarassed

Currys are doing the 32gb for 229 but it comes with a £50 itunes voucher. Is this a good deal?

I have 950+ mp3s on my 8gb Nano with 1.7gb free space left. I guess if you want movies on it the 32gb would make sense.

It will be used for movies, apps and the Bon Jovi anthology Rolling Eyes

Its the itune voucher I'm confused over. Is it worth paying the extra £10 over the cost of other retailers?

I'd assume the voucher allows you to buy iTunes tracks?

Which you'd probably have to spend within [cynic]one hour[/cynic] before expiry.

If you are thinking of using itunes to pay for tunes, you need some kindly bcf soul to tell you about the joy of music and films for free via bit torrents.

itunes is crap
mp3 torrents are also crap
mp3 is by far the worst sounding common place audio codec out there.
AAC isn't much better and makes everything sound like its being played on your mums pots and pans
ogg is much better.
flac is best
neither of which is supported on ipod (although they do support ALAC)

i buy cd's if i think that the artist - album is worth buying because i want to listen to it in the original quality (and they are on offer) Thumbs Up

i am an apple hater but i like the ipod touch. everything just works and jail broken can actually be customised to how you want it.
the 64Gb touch was on amazon.com (americans site) for around 219 last time i checked so i would imagine that the 32Gb would be way under 200
